Take a moment to remember John Hope
With all the bashing of different met's including Bastardi I can't help but think of that kindly old man that gave the weather channel most of it's class. Never afraid to go out on a limb, totally respected by his peers as being above the bar, a man who dedicated his whole life to the study of tropical cyclones. John if your looking down from that great spiral cloud in the sky I wonder what you think of this season so far? This was the year you wanted to see and this was the year we needed you to see it. How we've searched in vein to find your replacement on the national media. Sadly, no one has come forth to take your place. Mr. "and now the good news" Lyons hasn't done it. Joe Bastardi can't do it, and there isn't a met on any national media outlet that even comes close.

amen amem--"well done thy good and faithful servant&quo
what else needs to be said about John Hope--he was the best and he had such a calming effect--he told it like it was without trying to "hype" everything--he HAS been missed.

Absolutely Downdraft and others, great posts. I would love to have heard his take on this season (and last, btw).

Those that knew John knew that he had an extreme passion for the weather. I met him the first day I walked into The Weather Channel station twenty years ago. He was a father figure to many of the meteorologists still there today, and his legacy travels far beyond his death. I can't believe it's been three years. Thank you for that tribute.

I liked him very much. He was like a lovely grandfather with the added feature of being an excellent hurricane expert and forecaster.
