Notice Desmond taking many vials with him? Wonder what was in them.

Maybe an antidote to the disease he's avoiding? Something to keep him immune to it? He probably took the device he used to inject himself. But see if the entire stranded population needs these meds, Jack would find a way, he'd have a shot or two somehow, wouldn't he? And if you're recall, there was room for 2 down there. So there should be another device/plunger, whatever it was.

It's okay you're a woman of few words these days Cindy. You're still shell shocked. I think what you went thru was so shocking, it will take months and many common stages others go thru, in regards to traumatic situations - shock, disbelief, anger, rage, resolve, shock again. Just hang in there. Don't bottle up your feelings. Let them out.

Back to Lost again....

Thanks for understanding Mary :D

I wonder why Jack let Desmond go?

I think too much was happening for Jack to grasp. First finding Desmond, Kate was missing then showed up, okay. Whew there, Locke acting all weird like. Desmond explaining quickly why he's been down there and what he has to do every 108 minutes, then watching the Orientation movie with Locke, I think our Jack was overwhelmed with it all. Nothing was making ANY sense and Jack seems the type that situations have to make sense. When they don't, he probably said - aw, what the h*ll. Charlie would say - bloody h*ll....

I was at first surprised when he did let him go. But you know part of Jack doesn't buy any of this. And thinks nothing will happen if they just stop entering the numbers, all get a decent shower, eat some good food, get serious rest. And oh yeah, try to communicate with the mainland.

He's still my favorite.....

You're welcome for understanding. I've been thru a few very sad situations before, but nothing at all like you've been thru. If you're feeling half of what I felt, you need to take this one day at a time. Things will get better, trust me on that. But it will take a long time before they do. Take comfort in the small things (like finding your eye doctor, from another thread).

Jack is by far my favorite!! He's got that "good guy" thing going for him - hard to resist. Of course, with the new twist you sit there and say "huh"? Did Desmond say how he ended up on the island (I seem to vaguely remember that he did)? I know he talked about the guy that ran up to him and that was how he ended up in the - is it a bunker of sorts?

I'm thinking the vials contain "meds" that fight off whatever disease was quarantined. I'm starting to wonder if the whole island isn't some sort of secret experiment, but that would be too obvious.

As for Jack, Matthew Fox, I've had a crush on him since he was on Party of Five. :) shhh...don't tell my husband... Actually, he has a crush on Sandra Bullock, so we're even! :) Back on topic, it's logical that Jack would be a doubting Thomas being a man of science, but you'd think he would know that the odds of meeting Desmond again would be slim to none. That alone would speak volumes to me.

BTW, fun side note: Not sure if anyone's interested, but I found a quiz when I was goofing off that tells you which character you'd be if you were "Lost". Let me know if you want the link.

Hmmm - interesting. The island a secret experiment.

So why do y'all suppose they always want the children? First Danielle's son, then Walt. What's up with that?

How appropriate that my 150th post is about one of my favorite shows!
I think it may be because kids are young and impressionable and can be trained to become like "the others". Or maybe the "others" take them to kind hearted nuns who run a grade school on the island! :) No clue. What's your thought on it sunny?

I'm thinking they are using them for experiments. The "others" are almost superhuman. The hulk with the stick, the chick that decked Sawyer....

Yes please post the link, that sounds like fun.

I have thought alot of reasoning behind this island and why they are there, but have yet to come up with they would want the children. That one has got me kinda stumped.

And I also like Jack, with the whole good guy thing going, but I got to say that Sawyer is something. He puts on a rough exterior but he really has a good intentions most of the time. And I do think he has Jack beat in the looks department. That bad boy attitude he has I guess adds to his looks and I guess I like bad boys. LOL. Anyway looking foward to next week. Can't wait to see what they throw at us next. :D

Sooooo happy to find other "Lost" addicts at S2K! I didn't know y'all existed over here! LOL I'm usually in the tropics section and I finally ventured out into the rest of S2K world.

As for me - hubby and I got into Lost last season, but missed so many episodes that we got them through Netflix before this season started so we'd be all caught up. Now that we are, we can't miss an episode LOL Hubby's getting frustrated that they're not answering more questions, but I like that they're keeping us all guessing. This whole 108 min. thing is a bit tough for me to get. I don't think I'd want to be chained to that execute button every 108 minutes, personally. I'd be with Jack on wanting to see what happens if you don't hit the button.

Anyway - just wanted to pop in and say hi. Will have to check back here frequently though :)

Canelaw99! Welcome to this side of S2K....sort of like the other side of the island!

Yes there are many Lost fans here but with the tropics being the way they were this year we lost a few. But they'll be back. MrsRob had a lot of input last year and well, of course sunny did. They'll be posting again but both have had their world's turned upside down. Poor Mary lost her home.....if you're reading this Mary, we miss you and are here for you. You're too sunny!

I've always been into disaster type movies. My favorite remains, The Towering Inferno. That said I had enough shows to watch each week last year. But soon after Lost started I began hearing about it. We threw a xmas party last December and when I mentioned a new, popular show (meaning Deperate Housewives), many could only talk about Lost. So much that I became intriqued, thinking now this is my kind of show. Why didn't I watch from the pilot on. When I said disaster show, they all said oh no, it's way more than that. They warned me of the sci-fi stories, nothing making sense and I was even more hooked. Love Sci-fi too (just not horror movies). That said I jumped in mid-year and was so confused. If you have the time I did post here last year but fans from day one were confused. As soon as I heard ABC would re-air the entire first season this summer, I tuned in. My youngest daughter said I want to watch! She's as hooked as me and my husband is rolling his eyes a lot. For example, just the other night my older brother was tending bar at his lodge, the Eagles. He had to spend the night there to tend to a pig roast for the next day (he's a retired mailman). This is his way of retiring. I explained he had to set the alarm and get up every few hours to tend to the fire. Laura blurted out - just like Desmond! Hubby asked who is Desmond...as soon as we said the word Lost, we lost him. He walked out of the room!

Some get, some do not. My hubby doesn't get it. Polar bears on a tropical island? Come on he says.....LOL

Oh well......I love this show!

Hey Mary,

Missed the first part of the show last week...don't know how the guys got off the raft and back on the islands so I guess I will have to wait for a repeat of that one. The other parts didn't make a lot of sense since we missed the first 20 minutes...oh well...but my thoughts on the 108 minutes is that when they key those numbers in it resets the electronic blocking thing or what ever it is that keeps the compasses wrong and puts the "cloak" on the transmission they try to send out..........who knows.

Mary, thanks for the thoughts and prayers. We will make it back, it will be a long slow crawl but we southerners don't give up! We may get a trailer soon, but we have to get a water spigot put in and a power pole set up. Then it will be December before we can get a phone and supposedly the end of this week before cable is restored (Internet too) so we aren't in a hurry to get down there. There is only one person living on our entire block and that is the man next door to me and he had no where else to go. FEMA brought him a trailer and after he looked at it he called them and told them to come get it, it had been in water somewhere and was rusted out on the bottom, so they came and got it and brought him another nicer one, much bigger with a slide out. He is a Captain with the Pascagoula Fire Dept and had been sleeping in his office at the first station since the storm, this was for over a month. Oops, sorry this should be in the other place..sorry for the long winded story. :) :)

Mary,

No need to apologize. Linda had a post on the Porch topic too, in regards to how it really is down there. I think you all need to vent and give us first hand accounts. So don't ever feel you need to say you're sorry. Thoughts and prayers coming your way. My college freshman daughter, Nina, just volunteered in your community this past weekend. She was with a group froom her college, Western Kentucky U. They were staying at a Baptist church in Mobile, driving into Pascagoula Thurs/Fri/Sat. to help with housing repairs or building new structures. She was due back on campus yesterday. We're hoping to hear from her today. This is what she elected to do with her Fall School Break - help out. We of course missed not seeing her but how can I complain? I can't...in fact, we're so proud she wanted to give up her free time to help just a little. So if you happened to hear about a group from Western, she was a part of it.

The first twenty minutes.....well, you probably saw Michael and Sawyer hit the beach the week before. Jin running up to them, saying "others".....that group came up to them but before Michael and Sawyer could explain they meant no harm, the African American man hit Sawyer with a club or tree branch. All 3 were dragged to a hole in the ground, rolled down a steep embankment, covered in a grate made with sticks but weighed down heavily with something. They were trying to get out, Sawyer asked to be booted up. A sharp object was thrust thru the grate, a knife I think. Then a young woman was hurled down the embankment, and when she came to, she appeared scared of the 3. Then they explained who they were, how they came to be on the island. She said - you mean flight 815, Oceanic? She said she was in the tail section. She said to boost her up and Sawyer gave her the gun. She turned it on the 3 and the "others" pulled her up and out of the hole. The 3 remained trapped, no gun, no way out. I don't think her group are the others, but rather tail section survivors and they're scared, thinking Michael/Sawyer/Jin are the dreaded "others", if they met up with the French lady at some point. She was bait to see what the 3 were up to.

Kate managed to jump back down thru a vent of some sort, finding guns. She loaded one and came up on Desmond, holding the gun on Locke. They ordered him to drop the gun, but he wouldn't. She fired and her shot hit the computer. Desmond was freaking out, saying oh no, what have you done. Locke managed to get thru to Jack and Kate, that Desmond meant them all no harm. Suddenly Desmond was running around, checking all sorts of things on the computer, telling Jack and Locke where a movie reel was located, to explain why he's been down there. Jack and Locke watched the movie, Jack extremely skeptical (no surprise there) and Locke, intriqued. Saying we will have to watch that again. Jack looked at Locke like he was crazy (for the umpteenth time). Somewhere along the line Desmond asked if any of them knew much about computers. No. Kate said Sayid did. Go get him someone said. She asked if there was another way out, yes there's a door. She unlocked it by turning a wheel lock like you'd find on a ship. They didn't show what this 'door' looks like from the outside (I'm curious about that). Sayid arrives, is incredulous at what is down the hatch, briefly glancing around, but focuses on what he has to do. Fixes the computer, power was knocked out, it's restored. Hurley came with him and took one look at the fully stocked pantry, saying of course - dude.

That's probably past where you started watching. Let me know if you need more info or if I have something wrong (the rest of you Lost addicts, he he). It's easy to get something wrong. LOL

Just wanted to ditto what Mary said about you all going through such a hard time right now. My hope is that each day gets a little bit better than the day before.

As promised, I'm giving a link to the "which Lost character are you" quiz. If you take the quiz, I'd love to know "who you all are" and I can do the same. :) Enjoy!!

I hope I did that right. if not, let me know and I'll try again!!

Just tested it. It works. Question: Would it be better to start this test and it's results for those who take it as a new topic or should it be posted on this thread?

Well, I'll be the first to post it here...might as well keep it here so it doesn't get lost among the other threads :)

I am:
Boone*
You scored 76% kindness, 41% courage, 18% seedy past, and 23% secretiveness!
"I know you made a promise. I'm letting you off the hook. Let me go, Jack."

You are Boone. You are kind and brave, with a slightly less checkered past than your fellow survivors. You are an open book, and do not keep secrets from anyone. While your humanitarian efforts are chivalrous, being so trusting and helpful can get you into major trouble...especially when you spend your days hanging around John Locke. Stay away from the manipulative types and you should be winning a Nobel Peace Prize in no time.

Your polar opposite is: Michael. You are similar to: Jack and Sayid.

I took the test. It was not what I expected, but I'm the female version of Hurley!!

60% kindness, 32% courage, 36% seedy past, and 46% secretiveness!

"For the record, my belt HAS dropped a notch. I'm a big guy. It's gonna be a while before you're going to want to give me a piggy back ride."

Dude, you are Hurley. You are a kind soul with some terrible luck. While you're always lending a helping hand, you're not exactly the bravest guy on the island. What you do is even more important - keep people entertained. The only problem you've got is that whole jinxed numbers thing. You're so secretive, no one on the island even knows that you're a multimillionaire! Let it out, dude. There's no use trying to keep it all bottled up inside, man.

Your polar opposite is: Jin. You are similar to: Claire and Sun.

Wowsa....thought I'd be close to Jack. It was that question about being a hero that did me in. Not looking to be any hero, that's for sure!

Okay.....I am:

You scored 83% kindness, 23% courage, 7% seedy past, and 35% secretiveness!
"Don't open it. Don't open that thing."

You are Walt. You're a kind person who is eager to talk to everyone and absorb all the crazy things that are going on around you. Since you are still so young, you're not very brave, but your father will be able to show you how to be courageous. Your mysterious psychic powers are kind of creepy, but everyone needs a hobby, right?

Your polar opposite is: Sawyer. You are similar to: Claire and Sun.

So now we know that the Lost bunker (you can't call it the "hatch" anymore) has a front door. And we know what it's for — "just saving the world." Isn't that wonderful? And all you have to do is enter Hurley's numbers into a computer and push "execute." Why is this not a surprise? Nor should it be surprising that Hurley will have a difficult time in the bunker tonight. Don't look for Sawyer, Michael and Jin to have an easy time, either, but at least they'll find out who's holding them. — Paul Droesch
