Wish I knew how to post a picture here!

I posted a reply to this earlier, but it's gone. I must have boo-booed! Thanks Irina, you stay safe, too. You aren't that far east of us, and could also have some heavy rain!

Hi all,
Had to get off computer for awhile. Government asked all workers to go home and get off the roads due to flooding. That was about 2 PM when I got the call. It got extremely dark here with much thunder and some lightning. Lot's of rain too. Sorry Caribpr.
I see that this whatever it is is forming near by us. Wonder what the evening will bring.
BVIGAL stay home!! LOL. I am sure you are doing that.
Lynn, I called B in Curacao and updated her. Her house floods downstairs.......
So far no leaks here.
All quiet now. Much lighter than earlier.
Peace

Rain and wind are starting up again in earnest now. Well, at least the yard water was down to a skim....not for long I think.

(Vieques...send 'em your icky tarantula picture, let people know the horror! beside me, still shuddering)

Yep. It's crazy but between you in San Juan and us...the weather can be radically different! One reason I am glad on weather underground we have knotimpaired's weather station...even though Vieques and Culebra can ALSO have very different weather going on...gotta love the islands!

At least I feel a lot better about getting to SJ and off to Maryland on Thursday now (unless everything changes, and who knows?). So...I'll just stay home until then, and watch my plants drown. And! my friend who kindly takes care of things while I'm gone won't have to water the gardens for the first week or so.... :( 8-)

Hoping so much people heed these warnings! The rains has stopped again here and we only have one dangerous place (which I didn't check out today - you can't turn around if it IS bad), but the big island has so many places that could be so dangerous (as well as the other islands...).

Rain most of the night, rain right now, sort of on and off since dawn. The UNcoffin shaped flash flood zone box is now over almost ALL of the big island of Puerto Rico, but not us. No doubt Luis will have the official version of this up soon.
It is growing darker, and it is just barely sunrise...just another day in Paradox! :rain:

Things much better here today. Radio says government workers to report to work, but public schools are closed. I had a meeting last night, and the rain had let up, so ventured out and public works had cleared the mud & rocks off the hill road I used! Down along the coast, there was still water over one lane in some spots. Winds were gusty, and the sea was highest level I've seen in a long time, looking at the ferry dock, and 4-5 rollers on top.

Winds remain gusty this morning, and strong at times. Take a look at last 24 hrs St. Thomas, St. Croix, San Juan.

Glad to hear Tortola is turning the corner. Boy, Public Works got out fast! ;) Hope it continues well there. We are again in a steady rain at the moment. Well at least I know how the roof is holding up...one pinhole leak, and it's nicely located over the sink!

And, by the way, the rain hasn't even stopped yet but the mosquitos are hatching and getting thick already!

I would not have to say this but would any of you worry about Vieques and Culebra.

Yes we are spits of land but we also have families and friends,

Talk maybe in general.

When it comes to a hurricane in the states, my gosh, the world is falling, but us?

Who seems to give a crap?
