Famous People you've dated/met thread revisited:

#1 Postby furluvcats » Mon Oct 10, 2005 10:25 pm

I thought it was good timing for a new famous people you've dated/ met thread since I was just reunited with someone famous I went out with 15 years ago.....

Jim Harbaugh was 3rd string QB for the Chicago Bears when I met him, and fellow player Cap Boso on a trip they took to my hometown of Daytona. My friend set me up on a date with Jim Harbaugh...(I thought I was meeting Jim McMahon)...but Jim Harbaugh ended up being MUCH cuter !!!! We went out his whole visit and did many fun things...ahhh to be in my youth again!!!! lol He taught me how to throw a football on the beach, and I taught him how to make a Baybreeze (cocktail)...among many other things....Lost touch with him after that...he later became first string QB for the Bears, then onto Indianapolis Colts, Chargers in San Diego, and something in between....

There was an email from him in my inbox on Friday and I about fell out of my chair! Found out he is head coach at Un. of San Diego now, living rather close to us, so we decided to go see his game on sat. It was AWESOME to meet up with him again after the game and introduce him to the kids, hubby and mom in law...avvid Chicago Bears fan...who LOVED Harbaugh as her QB!

Fun to hook up with old friends from another lifetime! Look forward to seeing him again soon. Yeah...he's still a HOTTIE :D.

Any cool stories to tell about yourselves and famous people??

I met Burt Reynolds and was handing him autograph slips to sign for others. He was a former FSU football player and was there for homecoming. I still have the autographs somewhere.

Through my 1 year stint as house manager for the then only good venue in town(Hofheinz Pavilion), I met qutie a few, mostly musical, personalities. Among them Kris Kristoferson, Keith Emerson(EL&P),Sly Stone(carried him on stage!),George Carlin(picked him up for his gig and took him to airport afterwards), Michael Murphy and others.

My husband is the GM of the Red Lobster here....and one time he met John Travolta and his son Jett.....We have only been up here for 2 years but it is said that hes been to the restaurant many times in the past.....Always has his manager call before hand and my husband sneaked him in the back door through the kitchen,to a private table in the back....He always orders the biggest live maine lobster they got!!!! 8-)

That was last year....my husband hasnt seen him this year...and i told him if he does call me and i want to come meet him!!!....but he wants to keep a low profile so i guess i probably never will....oh well...

P.S.- He's really shorter than you think he is.....which i never knew..

I never dated anyone famous. But, I met a few. I met Mario Lopez (the guy from Saved by the Bell). He has friends here in southeast Louisiana. I met him at a nightclub in Thibodaux. I never actually talked to him. But, he was right in front of me and passed close enough to brush me by.

I also met the guy who play Dr. Rick Bauer on General Hospital. He was at Sears when we did remodel. I had just started working there. I got his autograph. He was not very friendly. He seemed to be stuck up.

I met the drummer of the band Live at the Tarpon Rodeo in Grand Isle. I don't know if he is that famous. Live kind of faded out. He kept talking to me and buying me drinks. He was actually trying to hit on me. But, famous or not, I am not into dating long haired rock n roll type guys. I am more into the preppy clean cut type guy.

I meet many famous individuals as a result of my work. Two weeks ago, I had lunch with Jeb Bush, in a business luncheon.

I did date an actress about 5 years ago, but she dropped out of sight, and is no longer prominent.

Oh yeah...I met Danny Bonaduce-Partridge family, Shirley Jones, and David Cassidy last year...

Also...my highlight as a young teen was meeting then Pro surfer Cheyene Horan surfing at Ponce Inlet...he was with my neighbor Jaybo, and I totally embarassed and po'd my neighbor by being star struck when I met Cheyene Horan, and asking for an autograph, etc...I acted like any star struck teen girl would...silly Jaybo! :P

Now Grimmy...I told you I passed my diva crown down to Chloe....who has met quite a few famous folks in her own right...

I've seen and heard the actual Maria Von Trapp give her life story (what the classic "The Sound Of Music" is based on) one time at a high school in Oxford, OH. :)

Bruce Willis during the filming of "Die Hard 3's" bridge to ship scene in Charleston, SC. Didn't run into Samuel L. though...

Darius from Hootie and the Blowfish at the Windjammer, Isle of Palms, SC.

For those of into his music - the Philly Kid, G. Love from the band "G. Love and Special Sauce" at Capones in Charleston, SC after a show at the Music Farm.

President Bush (current) during a fundraising for brother Jeb at the Don Cesar, St. Pete Beach, FL.

Toby Keith at a troop rally where the President was speaking - US Central Command, MacDill AFB.

My daughter and I met Carly Goodwin this weekend - she's an up-and-coming country music star who's done a lot of good supporting wounded soldiers at WR Army Medical, and also troops deployed to GITMO...hope she make it big. She's been getting a lot of good attention lately and has a duet with Willie Nelson on her CD.

Don't know if this counts or not, but I had a brief relationship with a high wire artist from the Ringling Brothers circus. I actually befriended his dog and would slip him scraps from the restaurant I worked at. He followed his dog one morning to see where he kept running off to.

Tito Puente (good friends with his son).

Margot Kidder (frequented the Ace Hardware I worked at in school - sweet lady before the weird thing happened).

Bill Murray (another Ace Hardware customer - Bill's a total complete jerk and I never pay to see his movies).

Ellen Burstyn's son kept asking me out. (The wife of Ace's manager thought I was nuts because I didn't know who Ellen was at the time).

My manager's brother at Ace went into show business. Was in a movie with Sandra Bullock, but I can't think of it now.

Ross Perot (no laughing).

Pat Buchanan (who is probably still trying to figure out why I sarcastically wished him luck early on in 2000). Hubby sat and talked with his sister and brother on a boat later that year.

Tony Dungy (had no idea who he was or why he had so many towels at the laundromat. Good personality and easy to talk to though.)

One of our neighbors liked to bring by his Bucs cheerleader girlfriend. I wasn't as impressed as hubby was though.

"El Pibe", Carlos Valderrama (who can resist getting an autograph from a cute futbol player on the payphone by the pack and ship store??)

Ernest Hemingway's granddaughter kept an eye on our daughter along with her own so hubby and I could take a dip in the ocean. Had no clue why the cool third-generation Conch wanted to escape Key West so bad.

There's more, but my brain has shut off for the night.

I met Yogi Berra at a restaurant when I was a little kid. I worshipped him when I was younger. I remember peering over our table to look at him eating, and my father slapped my hand. I will never forget what he told me that day, and that is a 'philosophy' I have taken with me throughout life. He told me, "what's famous to you is someone else's normal." Since then, I have gone on to meet a few individuals that some people might tag with the label, "famous." I have worked with quite a few organizations in my nearly 30-year career as a photographer. I enjoy my profession for several reasons, but the "fame" factor is one of them. I capture the moment for millions of people, but I can still buy my milk in anonymity at the grocery store. Some of the people I have met along the way; I have been fortunate to call "friend." For all of them, I remember my father's words. I met Muhammad Ali in my adult life a couple years ago. When I was younger, I remember watching his bouts and being impressed that God gave someone that much athletic ability. When I saw him a couple years ago, his body was worn down by those many punches he took in his career. Just seeing him proved to me that time doesn't escape anyone simply because of a name.

Well, due to the subject matter, I will say he's a famous basketball player, but not give his name. I was working in a law office and had taken over the front desk while the receptionist stepped away. The famous guy said "I'm so and so...I'm here for my appointment." So, thinking he was an ordinary person, I politely told him to take a seat and I'd let the attorney know he arrived. He snipped back "Don't you know who I AM?!!? I'm so and so!" Well, the name meant nothing to me, but I asked the attorney if I could send him right in and, of course, they said yes. Apparently, when he came in, he was never told to wait -he just went right in. When I told my friends the story, they couldn't believe I didn't know him and were upset I didn't get an autograph! :) When they showed me who he was, I was so embarassed because even someone who never watches the sport would've recognized his name!
