call Mike Jones up on the low
cuz Mike Jones about to blow!

He still says thats his real cell number, but I haven't heard of anyone getting through yet, so I'm not buyin' it....

I've been in kind of a hip hop phase lately....guess cuz so many H-town boys are making good right now. Mike Jones sounds like a fat Donald Duck on crack....but somehow, its endearing. :) Slim Thug just has a great voice..... and Paul Wall doesn't sound white. It took me a while for the screwed and chopped thing to grow on me, but now I kinda like it (some songs are better screwed than others).

Everything I've heard from Kanye's new one is good (even though Golddigger is way overplayed)....I gotta download that one. And that new Black Eyed Peas song is the most annoying thing I think I've ever heard.... :x

Well, that post certainly seemed out of place.....I have no idea whatsoever what Louis Farrakhan has to do with liking rap music....????

If the implication is supposed to be about race and culture, you must be a bit behind the times. Rap and hip hop dominate the mainstream pop stations now.... white rappers like Eminem and Paul Wall go platinum.... hispanic hip hop is becoming more common....you can't put that kind of music in a convenient demographic box anymore. Its as silly to say that all black people like rap as it is to say that all white people like country.... taste is up to the individual, of course.

(Now, if thats not what you were getting at....ignore me....I'm clueless  )

Sometimes I'm troubled at storm2k... was that racist or am I imagining something?

Sorry...wasn't racism...but it was slightly out of place. It so happens, I just got through reading linked article on this "Million More March", and noticed that Rap performers will be present. I put two and two together and figured there would be a whole lot of rap fans there.

Didn't mean to offend.

Stormie – You let me off too easy. True – my remarks were not racist, but my implication was intentional in that, because there will be mostly blacks there, there is a dang good chance that there will be an abundance of Rap fans there (even if there wasn’t any rap music featured). It’s no big secret that Rap music is the overwhelming music of choice among African Americans.

I can’t tell you the last time a car load full of Blacks pulled up next to me at a red light and I heard “Summer Wind” blasting out the windows. Is that a racist remark? No!

Ahhhhhhh OK..... while I see what you are saying, your control group has a pretty skewed age demographic......when was the last time you saw an 80 year old black guy bouncing down the street in an Impala with hydraulics? Rap music is certainly the choice of young black people (especially guys).....but then again, it has become the choice of most young guys.....I don't remember hearing "Summer Wind" (not that I would recognize it) blasting from a car fulla white teenagers, either.

So yeah, there probably will be rap fans at the Million More March. Plenty of them, even. All I was saying was that rap and hip hop aren't exclusively "black" anymore .... I would guess that the majority of modern pop hits would fall into one of those two catagories.....and I'll bet 50 Cent sells more copies of his albums at suburban Best Buy's than he does at the little mix tape shop next to Timmy Chan's.

I think the song by Billy Joel says it best..."I like that ole time rock and roll" Not very good music to my liking but I do like Clay Aiken, Backstreet Boys, Enrique Eglasius, Michel Buble, Savage Garden...In other words,in my older age, I like soft rock.

Actually, Bob Seger sang "Old Time Rock & Roll." Billy Joel's song was "It's Still Rock & Roll To Me."

I'm a die-hard Joel fan.

Yeah....I love that song.....its hilarious and it makes ya wanna shake ya bootay! :P I have a lot of catching up to do with Kanye....I have liked every single he has put out so far (Jesus Walks, Slow Jamz, Through the Wire etc.), so I gotta get both albums....I am especially curious about the collaboration with Paul Wall on Late Registration.

Through the Wire is still prolly his coolest IMO....the song is about a near fatal car accident he was in, and it was recorded while his jaw was still wired shut....pretty unique and adventuresome for a first single!

Oh, and speaking of rap music....have any of the other Texans heard Chamillionaire's Turn It Up - Astros Remix??? If you haven't, y'all should download it and listen to it for luck! Don't worry, theres nothing dirty.... just freestyled Astros rhymes to the tune of his single..... it made me feel so much better yesterday.....and now I am ready to cheer again today!

Go 'Stros!!!!!
