They are waiting for recon. It may look like one on satellite, but it would be an embarrassment to call it one now, then in a few hours when recon is there, to find out its not.

Always wait for recon. You folks can't be that impatient to wait another 6 hours!

Think they're waiting on recon.

Well, the RECON is not on the way right now. So, TD 24/TS Wilma by 5 PM when they get there.

Gert looked worse than this when it was upgraded before recon got in there.

folks, looks and t-numbers dont make td's...when they find a closed circulation from whatever means they will declare a TD. It doesnt matter how gert or katrina or camille looked when they were declared that isn;t the criteria.

They will either wait for recon to arrive or if the surface observations confirm (which at this time they don't) a depression.

T#'s and low pressure do not confirm the existence of a tropical despression. They suggest it, but it doesn't mean there is one. They will be rightly cautious and wait for recon. Also notice the surface ob map senoprepr posted, which suggests no TD yet actually. So again, lets not jump over this being a depression yet.

With the very high heat content and very favorable upper level winds....this could be another major.

Very Bullish 11:30am TWO:

SATELLITE IMAGES AND SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION APPEARS TO BE DEVELOPING IN THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA
JUST WEST OF JAMAICA. AN AIR FORCE RECONNAISSANCE PLANE IS
SCHEDULED TO BE IN THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON TO DETERMINE IF A
TROPICAL DEPRESSION HAS FORMED. THIS SYSTEM IS ACCOMPANIED BY A
LARGE AREA OF SQUALLS WHICH IS ALREADY AFFECTING JAMAICA AND THE
ADJACENT WATERS. ALL INDICATIONS ARE THAT THIS SYSTEM WILL MOVE
VERY SLOWLY TOWARD THE WEST OVER THE WARM WATERS BEWTEEN JAMAICA
AND THE CAYMAN ISLANDS DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS...AND COULD BECOME
A TROPICAL STORM OR EVEN A HURRICANE. INTERESTS IN JAMAICA...CUBA
...THE CAYMAN ISLANDS...AND THE REMAINDER OF THE NORTHWESTERN
CARIBBEAN SEA SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS
DEVELOPING WEATHER SYSTEM.

Wow... impressive TWO.

So much for those crying that the season is over.

Agree center will be more north and west that the red circle indicates. West wind will be the key in the short term.

I like the CMC scenario. Would give us some decent surf as well as probably 40 kt winds or so. Perfect.

It's called the Jiminy Cricket syndrome. The idea is that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true.

AND COULD BECOME
A TROPICAL STORM OR EVEN A HURRICANE.

I thought the TWo was just to let you know if a system is forming. LOL First time I ever saw them say possibily a hurricane once in the West Caribbean.
