exactly (80 views and no responses on this thread so far). Many Local mets aren't talking about it much yet. But that will change starting tomorrow. If they are like me, I'm still in disbelief that here in mid to late October FL has a potential major hurricane on the way.

Unbelievable

I just finished watching WDSU CH6 in New Orleans. Met said La/Ms not out of woods yet as trought may not be as strong as first forecast. He still thinks Fla is at most risk though.....MGC

our local channel 8 in Tampa said we have to watch this and it will all depend on where the front is and how fast the storm enters the GOM. they seemed to think it would be a CAT 2 crossing western Cuba.

Yeah, his report made me come back and check the models. Sure enough, they have shifted west. Seems like the same old song.

I am just a lurker here ,but also from Pensacola and you are so right about channel 3, they hardley ever cover storms in our area, channel 5 out of Mobile is the best and most informative b4 and after, this is just something to wait out and watch, I know nothing about weather, just what I am slowley learning on here. I had a gut feeling with Ivan and I never want that feeling again, this worries me but that feeling isn't there...yet. I hope it stays far away,my prayers are with whom ever gets it though. I would also like to add that I really enjoy reading this board, it is very informative and you all are great at explaining to those of us that have no clue in our language how all of this works. I am learning a little each day, so thanks for that, stay safe.

Welcome Jen! You're right, people here will help you any way they can.

Late local news tonight picked up on the westward shifts in the track and NHC guidance and said it's looking less likely for south florida, though we may get some effects later in the week, and will have strong winds from now through the week.

No it is not rude...just a little truth. Now the t.v. stations out of Mobile which broadcast into the Pensacola are do a good job on informing and forecasting.

Welcome and Channel 5 is the best. They stay on top of the weather along with keeping the public inform.

Good Morning Everyone , I am in NC and our Wilmington Met mentioned us getting rain Much needed rain from Wilma maybe by Saturday. i was alittle puzzled by this because looking at the model tracks about 6 am this morning most of them show it going west. And whoever is in its path Good Luck. Stay Safe. and GET out if its a Major and Coming your way.
