Colder than a Well Digger's Butt

#1 Postby Nalora » Tue May 20, 2003 7:58 am

Woke up, opened the front door to let my sumo chihuahua out to do his numbers and jimminey christmas if the north wind did not smack me in the face. It is MAY in Oklahoma and the temperature outside is 50 degrees! But I am NOT complaining. Come August I will be screaming for a cold front to come down and wipe those triple digits off the map...I know this...I know summer is coming.

I did finally get a touch of rain last night when the storms formed behind the front. Think I got less than an inch, but heck, at this point I will take any I can get. Total for May is only 2 inches here, and I get a tad nervous going into June and July without some good soaking, it does not bode well for the fire months.

Personally, I will be watching Houston myself, this morning to see if they catch some rain as this cold front moves down to their area. They could surely use it as much as me, and soon they wont care how they get it, they will be watching every gulf storm with great anticipation and be trying to will it to come ashore at or near Houston just so they are not eating dust.

Nalora - thanks for keeping an eye out on Houston - we need the rain and yes you are correct about the tropical systems - we watch them all with keen eyes to see if they come inland and bring the much needed rain - but not too much aka Allision -no flooding.

They say the cold front is suppose to make it all the way down to the coast and out into the GOM - if that is the case - we know what happens when some of the fronts meander out in the GOM do!

Time will tell - first some rain and cooler temps for us!

This cold front is a SCREAMER Patricia. It barrelled in here with some wind gusts in the 60's. I think it has plenty of strength to make it into the gulf, and isnt that back door front odd for this time of year? I say the gulf is gonna rev up.

But that may just be wishful thinkin' for the folks down in South Texas.
