This area of the Caribbean and what it could produce was not unexpected. The rapid drop of pressure of course does make your heart race.

It will lose some strength before any CONUS landfall...

They've only been there an hour... they are nowhere close to heading home.

and no... it can never get too dangerous. They fly at higher altitudes.

BTW, just as a reminder, now that recon is at 700mb (10,000ft), the reduction is 90% instead of 80% from flight level.

Even with my limited knowledge of flight dynamics....Banking at such a limited area is a bit difficult.

It's not fun. It'll only get worse as the winds catch up to the pressure. However, because of the tight pressure gradient... it's only about a minute of hell going in... a quick break... then a minute of hell going out.
