I don't see how the water off S. FL is that "cool" - that's certainly not what I feel when I dip my toe into the ocean. Past week and change, we've had nothing raining down but sunlight, too.

It's over when it's over. I would be wary of saying that something "can't hit in October/November." After all, in 1985, we were very nearly hit by Kate....from the EAST. Michelle could have been a FL storm. Mitch could have been a FL storm. The strong Mitch, not TS Mitch.

Mike, I am not so sure. Wouldn't a storm forming down there have a hard time reaching major status due to shear, land interaction, and gping over Cuba?

You know... there is a reason why they say the end of November is the climatological end of hurricane season... 24L (Wilma) is just further proof.

Just remember that the hurricane season lasts until Nov. 30th....Does this mean that someone can call it off 6 weeks early? I think not. Stay tuned for further developments in the tropics.

with a storm developing right now I don't see how any one could say the season is over but hey if they want to believe the season is over then go right ahead its their right! lol

Getting late for a US major, but certainly not late for majors as a whole.

Remember, in recent years, Mitch, Michelle, Lenny. Michelle was almost a US storm.

And then of course, storms below this strength form all the time during these months. October is usually much more active than July. In recent years, the November-December period has tended to be much more active than June. Two years ago we had the two December storms and last year we had Otto in November.

It's always great fun to go back and read comments from a few days ago and see how many people need to button up their mouths...The comments about Dr Gray's "busted October forecast" are just so ludicrous that I had to laugh :lol:

Dr. Gray nailed the October forecast. His major hurricane prediction
could likely come true with Wilma, and I certainly won't be singing yabba dabba doo.

I had to bump this thread to remind those who said the season was over how crazy they were to think that. After just seeing the totally improbable happen with Wilma, maybe they will learn their lesson once and for all. Like I've said over and over and over again, the season is over 12:00:00 AM, December 1. It is not over in October; it is not over in November. Hopefully we will not see any more of these "season's over" posts for the rest of the season.
