How much will this weaken over florida?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

How much will this weaken over florida?

#1 Postby jrtalon » Wed Oct 19, 2005 12:52 am

The track(well the part that goes over florida) almost looks like a reverse of what Katrina did when it was a Cat. 1, and remember it only weakened like 5mph do to the swamps/lakes and flat land. If Wilma's speed increases like forecasted and Wilma hits as a Cat 4/5 could W. Palm, Ft. Lauderdale, or Miami see Cat. 3/4 winds?

I think a landfall as a cat 4/5 is highly unlikely...but at the same time, I think it'll weaken very little over land since it'll be moving so fast.

Someone just posted this in another thread. This is a damage graphic based on the latest GFDL.

THAT IS NOT A FORECAST INTENSITY GRAPHIC, IT IS A DAMAGE PREDICTION FROM METHAZ.ORG

LOL...NO...IT'S NOT RELATED TO THE GFDL IN ANY DIRECT WAY...IT IS AN INDEPENDENT PRODUCT
