The drosponde reported the 884mb also report 26mph surface winds, so it probably missed the eye and the pressure was actually lower.

Yes. The drosponde reported the 884mb also report 26mph surface winds, so it probably missed the eye and the pressure was actually lower at 882mb.

What would be the storm surge for Wilma? And how far inland would it go?

LOL that is an awesome analogy

Let me get this straight, the first guy wishes the strongest hurricane ever in the Atlantic Basin on Mexico (if this happened, the hurricane would very likely still be a Cat 5), and then the second guy says "lots of laughs"...what's wrong with this picture?

This is a very powerful historic moment here. It will take some time to digest it all but my gosh this is unbelievable.

Those are some MONSTER wobbles she's making. Instead of wobbling, I think she's about to do a loop :D I still cannot believe my eyes.

I just happened to be listening to the radio last night, and heard the news.

It's strange how much the people on the radio were downplaying it. WIOD is normally an endless source of breathless hype and huffing and puffing, even for a T.S. or Cat. 1 hurricane. Yet this time, they were basically doing all they could to imply that we may not even feel any effects from the big, bad 170-mph storm. My favorite line was when they said "these storms can move every which way" as if they had minds of their own. Fools.

I just find it funny that we endlessly hype up TS's and Cat. 1s......but then when there's a Cat 5 and we are nearly square in the middle of the cone, the way they report on it is almost matter-of-fact. They almost seemed unconcerned that it would hit here.

I just pray that the windfield doesnt expand due to eye wall replacements. Currently hurricane force winds expand outwards of 15 miles of the center but it could change could of the eye wall cycles. On the current forecast track, Wilma is gonna be within 46 miles of my house. I checked that on that Closest Approach thread. Others however, are gonna get it far worse
