On the O'Reilly Factor, he just stated flat out:

This will be the last landfalling hurricane for the season

I'm sorry but that's very irresponsible to me and could cause people to drop their guard. I guess he forgot that we've taken hits in Florida at the end of November also.

He also said "and you heard it here first"

I think Accuweather has that line trademarked. :D

Speaking of accuweather - I caught the tail end of JB on Fox around 4p today sticking with a more west central florida landfall - the graphic looked like in between Charlotte Co and St. Pete. Anyone else catch that?

A different guy from Accuweather was on FNC earlier...not JoeB and he said Charlotte County looked to be in the crosshairs.

The Accuweather guy on FNC also was really downplaying Wilma as probably not much more than a strong blow, with no major impact.

I think that's extremely irresponsible, even if it turns out to be true. But Fox News has been doing some really weird weather things lately, like publicizing the Dynomat guy like he has some sort of magic bullet for hurricanes, which every rational person knows is entirely false.

Just because they are the news ratings leader, they shouldn't let that go to their heads. The worm can turn, and quickly.

I heard that too and thought it was very unprofessional for him to say that. He can't read mother nature's mind. Anything can happen.

As for people wondering why he said that (which I do think, like many others, was overboard) is found here:

I think thats a bit overboard as well, O'Reilly didn't make that claim, some guy who was on his show did. And you can't really expect someone who doesn't have much knowledge about hurricanes to correct someone who labels himself an expert.

My mom likes Fox News, JB, and Accuweather (thinks all three are the best in fact or darn seems like it anyway). Should I be scared?

I'm a FNC kind of guy - except when it come to weather info, especially tropical systems. CNN does a much better job - IMO.
