ncdowneast wrote:this storm will likely hit the Yucatan as it has not turned as of yet and it CAN make a sharp turn.Go back and look at the track of hurricane dennis in 99' as it approached NC.It turned on a dime and moved ENE.
If you notice they have it slowing down in the Yuc channel or over the Yuc itself a slow moving system can change directions abruptly and make sharp turns so yes it can make that turn quick!
I had posted the same thing on dennis. And was dennis moving around 10-12 MPH when it did make that turn so sharp? I will look and see.

The city under their name
I'm sorry but the thought that The NHC, Joe B and Derek are -removed- the storm to "the city under their name" is absolutely absurd and an insult.
Now, others who are NOT Pros on the board, I would tend to agree in some cases. But the NHC, Joe B and Derek..... ridiculous..

It just seems mighty coincidental that many here seem to predict every storm to pass through their town.
I think that always happens doesn't it. LOL I think maybe it's just fear talking. When a cane is headed in your general direction, it's best to prepare as if it's coming to your town and then hopefully breath a big sugh of relief when it doesn't!

You guys might call it -removed-; however, the only smart thing for any one who could possibly be in the path is to analyze all of the different possibilities, especially any that could affect you personally. Instead of "-removed-," I prefer to look at it as analyzing. And in a case like this, that is actually pretty darn smart. The more knowledgeable one is about the possibilities (that could happen), the more we can be prepared, and isn't that what it is really all about? To be properly prepared whether or not it ends up coming in your direction?

Yay for Cm.. Good post..
That's all we do.. We are being analytical and trying to analyze where the storm could go.. I even bought a few extra canned goods today when I was over at Wal Mart picking up my paycheck..
We are just having our adrenalines all going at once because we are all wanting this thing to do it's thing and get out of here.. -
