BUOY 42056 - in the path of Wilma

#1 Postby dhweather » Wed Oct 19, 2005 10:34 am

This NOAA buoy will likely be very close to Wilma's path and will be
worth watching for the next day or so.

34 foot waves hitting this poor little guy every 9 seconds, if I am reading this right.

It takes a licking but keeps on ticking....for now.

p.s.: It's just about at its nearest point right now. By morning, if the forecast track is right, the winds will have shifted to the south.

Wind Direction (WDIR): SSE ( 150 deg true )
Wind Speed (WSPD): 54.4 kts
Wind Gust (GST): 68.0 kts
Wave Height (WVHT): 33.5 ft
Dominant Wave Period (DPD): 13 sec
Average Period (APD): 9.0 sec

The winds have shifted to the SSE indicating that the center has passed. Winds and gusts have backed down, as one would expect.

Still pretty nasty though.
