How many Cat 5s have made landfall?

I know 3 in the U.S. Labor Day 1935, Camille, Andrew. But what about every where else in the Atlantic, how many Cat. 5's have made landfall and when was the last one for Mexico? thanks

Labor Day, Camille, Andrew are the only 3 I can think of..

Gilbert was the last one to make landfall in Mexico as a marginal Cat 5, in 1988. It hit Cancun, but the damage reports to this day conflict each other.

Anita hit northeastern Mexico as a Cat 5 in 1977. It was small, and it hit a rural area, but reports are that the areas that did get hit were completely wiped off the map.

I think it was a Cat 4 at landfall in Honduras...not sure if it was a Cat 5 at Swan Island...Here's a link:

mitch didnt hit land as a 5...weakened considerably before land interaction

Mitch made landfall as a marginal 1, upwelling and land interaction really took a toll on it.

Does Swan Island count as a landfall? I think it trounced it as a Cat. 5.

Also, I thought somebody said Inez (1966) may have been a Category 5 hurricane.

Why is Floyd listed as a 5?

Kind of a technical reason/explanation. Has been corrected.

Early in the development of our systems, our server was calculating the categories and used explicit results. Floyd - 1999 had max winds speeds of 135 kts x 1.15 = 155.25. The system saw that the winds speeds were above 155 and classified Floyd as a Cat 5 for this period in the historical track.

All of the dynamic data was corrected when Floydbuster caught this error back in June or July. The Cat 5 page is static and therefore didn't update with the correction. Thought we caught all of them!
