It looks like Cancun will see the NE eyewall

From look at the imagery (radar and satellite) it definitely looks like there will be landfall of the eye on the Yucatan between Playa Del Carmen and Cancun Does anyone know what the storm surge will be like for Cozumel? I know the maximum evelation there is 45 ft (15m)

No at this rate NE, because it looks to hit the mainland Yucatan slightly north of Cozumel (maybe after partially passing over the island). Hopefully it passes over Cozumel so they can get some calm (they need a break, theyve been experience major hurricane conditions probably for 6 hours now).

surge isnt going to be a huge issue, its the winds that are going to mess up cancun.

Have to agree here. Looks like landfall between Cozumel and Cancun which will give Cancun the N and/or NE eyewall. Poor Cozumell has been being rocke dhard for quite a while. They do need a break!!! I think Cancun will see just about the same thing just on the other side of the eye from Cozumel.

Uh, jog north again. the town on the western shore of Cozumel continues to see major hurricane conditions.

yeah...it looks like the outer and inner eyewalls are about equal right now so cancun probably gets worst of it even though inner wall passes to south.....luckily....it looks like worst is about 120mph now instead of 145...based on very latest recon.

Latest recon showed 135 mph winds in the NW eyewall....if the NE eyewall goes over Cancun theyll probably get the 140 mph advisory winds.

cancun is quite a bit north of the nw eyewall (inner wind maxima) right now.....although an intense band is just to the south......it would take a big jog north i still think for Cancun to get what Cozumel did/is.
