Wilma stalling along Yucatan coast?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Wilma stalling along Yucatan coast?

#1 Postby BReb » Fri Oct 21, 2005 3:23 pm

looks that way to me. I've seen this many times how hurricanes tend to want to avoid land, with the most striking example being Hurricane Ivan avoiding the island of Jamaica like it had a bad disease.

Looks to me like Wilma similarly doesn't want to go ashore:

It looks like her inner eyewall hit the coast of the mainland around 17:45 and it was still there at 19:45, with maybe a tiny jog to the north around 19:45. This looks like a recipe for massive destruction and flooding if it keeps up.

Yes... and IF it stays offshore, it's going to be a stronger storm in Florida.

I'm not convinced it's going to stall anywhere though, onshore, or off.

Cozumel sure is spending a good long while inside the eye.

It does seem that the stall may be happening.

BAD NEWS for them. People will think the storm is over. Go outside and then uh oh.

I don't agree with the stall yet but I do see the slight northward jog.

it must be a truly amazing site and I hope someone - if anyone stayed behind - gets a good picture!

Prayers with the people down there. That eye is just perfecto.

It does look like its stalling to me!

Yep, they have been in the eye now for almost 3 hours!

This is the point in the Hollywood movie where the ancient monster Hurrikan awakes from the depths of a Maya temple on the island and terrorizes the survivors as the east eye wall closes in.

(While Geraldo gives running commentary for Fox) 8-)

Geeze, wut wuz in that omlet I ate earlier?
