There is complete silence
There is complete silence outside. I just went out, no birds at all... Usually they are chirping away. It is eerily silent outside....

I read an article and it said always walk your dog on a leash when a storm is coming because their instincts are to run away and you will end up out in the storm trying to find your animal. I told the neighbor next door last year before Charley because he lets his dog out by himself in the fenced in area. Did he put the dog on a leash, no. Did the dog jump the fence and run away, yes. Was he out in the storm trying to find his dog, yes. I tried.

I know. I honestly have never heard silence like this.... Even before Charley.
Even my 2 cats (Siamese: Sebastian & Sabrina) are very quiet this morning. Both have been with me all morning asleep while I have been here on Storm2k. Very unlike them to be this quiet (Siamese are known to be talkers)

I don't have to worry about my cats and storms at all - they are both 'fraidy cats and run under my bed at the first sign of thunder or howling winds. If they see rain, they will sit at the door, but won't take a step outside. Same goes for snow, but of course I have to throw them out in that, they are just too funny in the white stuff.
During Floyd, I had to evacuate to my neighbors house, and took the cats with me. They found a bed there and stayed under it the whole time, except one cat came out into the room where we all were, meowed about 5 times as loud as she could, then ran back under the bed until the hurricane passed. I wish I knew what she was trying to say then, because it must have been very important.

This sounds more like a precursor to an earthquake to me. Before earthquakes occur, rocks emit ozone which some animals can smell.
