It's trying to clear its eye, there is no dry air in this system.

They are now forecasting a very high Category Two (95KT) at landfall in southwest Florida and, possibly, a marginal Category Three.

I agree, but it'll be a different kind of damage. Most of the damage from Katrina was caused by the surge, with relatively little damage from the winds (thus the reason some believe Katrina was firmly Cat 3 at landfall), as evidenced by a lack of severe damage away from the coast in most areas. At any rate, the damage from Wilma will probably extend much farther inland, and include more of the roof-removal type, assuming the structure was well-built to begin with. Because the deep water resides much nearer the shores on that part of the Yucatan, surge likely wasn't anything near what was experienced with Katrina.

Was just out at Publix tonight, I can tell you just by that experience, Broward is not taking this seriously yet.

I was just looking at the IR loop for the GOM and I didn't realize how big this storm really is wheather she comes in, in Naples , Ft Meyers or Tampa this is is going to cover a lot of land mass.

Stores were not busy here in Ft Myers today either, could be due to all the days of "hurry up and wait" people have already shopped or evacuated.

I am willing to assume that if the watches on the east coast become warnings.. or I should say when.. Then the ones inland will become warnings too..

Looks like when the rest of the core circulation gets over water, she's going to make a run at intensifying. She's already showing some signs of getting her act together. Will be a VERY interesting next 24 hours.

Same here in Sarasota. Though I must admit, I've had my supplies since last May, so when I see some folks stock up at the last minute, I wonder what goes through their minds...

Since Wilma took so very very long to get here, perhaps everybody already has everything and is ready to go. I dunno for sure though.

TWC just rolled some preliminary footage in Cancun. Hard to tell structural building damage but there are virtually no trees left standing.
