I don't know why they are closing the schools. During the rainy season we get more rain, wind, thunderstorms, and lightning, then we will out of this one. What makes this one so different besides having a name by it. As PAUL DELGADO says "it will be no big deal here in Tampa"

Seriously, why the close?

This will be a morning event ...It would not be good to have 1000's of kids hanging around for the buses in that type of weather...

It wouldn't be safe for the kids at the bus stop. PLus should the wind gusts be a bit higher....have you seen some of the portables? We are always telling people to get out of mobile homes, so it isn't a good idea to have a bunch of kids in a mobile classroom. PLus the high liklihood in spots of power outages. Did Paul D. really make that quote? I find that hard to believe. I mean it won't be a hurricane but as a TV Met I can tell you that daily during the summer we get phone calls and emails from viewers (I am sure he does as well) panicking to no end about daily thunderstorms. So, with that said I won't overhype something but I certainly would not overly downplay it either.

Josh, he is always downplaying threats, until it really hits home. He said it I believe Lastnight or the night before. I just rolled my eyes, because I am used to him saying that. Other members on this board who see Paul D. will say the samething..

Will it be possible to go driving on Monday morning in the Tampa area? I was planning on driving to Gainesville Monday morning, but I don't want to be on the road with tropical storm force winds.
