Everybody just needs to cool it and calm down..

We have a very dangerous and possibly historical {depending on how many confirmed touchdowns} tornado outbreak just beginning across this area.

They could all be F0-F1.. or even some higher scale.. and we need to get through this night TOGETHER.. as a unit..

If all else.. Maybe we all need a short break away from the comp.

Just calm down.. and lets feel free to let any opinions or info we have fly as long as it is done in a respectful manner

I hope you weren't being serious...a basement is what I mean -- elevation means nothing...

EDIT: I apologize for making some incorrect assumptions stemming from not being familiar enough with the area. In light of that new info :darrow: please stay safe even if you're stuck above ground. Thanks for correcting me...learn new things every day...

There are NO basements or cellars in Brevard County. 10 feet down and you hit water. We're just barely above sea level and everything is built on sand. That is what was meant by "too low of elevation".

I'm sure everyone facing the threat of these tornadoes wishes they DID have a basement. But alas, this is Florida and those don't exist!

Everyone in North Brevard stay safe!!!!

Actually where I live, on the barrier island, I can dig 2.5 feet with a posthole digger and hit water. If you can find a way to make a cellar please inform all engineers and architects immediately!

Holy cow! That was incredible! I didn't catch sight of the actual funnel cloud, but Cocoa Village got hit and Florida Avenue is full of debris. I saw transformmers blow, one after the other about a mile west of me. Local news said the tornado also hit the Visitors Center at Kennedy Space Center.

The super cell that produced the tornadoes so far are still showing funnel clouds on doppler radar right by the Vehicle Assembly building just as the warning is expiring.

What a night!

Right John. The authorities are still assessing damage.

I wish I HAD a cellar. I dug a hole to plant a bush and stuck water after just 5 inches!

I cannot count on fingers and toes the times I have heard "get in the basement" during tornado warnings. No matter how close to me (1/10th of a mile in some cases), I laugh myself to tears. I lived in Indiana for 6 mos. as a kid, so I do have an idea of what they are!

The rotissarie of local weather broadcasting

If anyone can come up with any news stories/pictures regarding the damage in Broward County -- please point me in the right direction.
