This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Could Wilma weaken to a Cat 1 by landfall?

#1 Postby JohnTK5 » Sun Oct 23, 2005 11:55 pm

I see a strong chance she will weaken to a Cat 1 before she makes land fall. What do you think.

Hello? Have you looked at recon. Pressure is dropping at a faster rate than before even.

Unfortunately this storm isn't weakening and will make landfall in the next 6 hours.

What is someone posting out of CA coming up with nonsense like this for? You have nothing to back it up. Stop posting nonsense on this board or you will be supsended immediately!!!

From the residual winds we are having here along the MS Gulf Coast it wouldnt surprise me if Wilma were gaining strength... We are having stronger gusts then when Dennis hit the Pensacola area earlier this year... Geez I hope my tarp makes it!!!

Actually, most of those winds are coming from the cold fronts.

Yep, it's the front that's doing it, but I agree - it's pretty darn strong. The strongest wind we've had around here since Katrina. In fact, just a few moments ago, my lights flickered and WLOX went off the air!! (hoping my blue roof hangs on too...)

Hey Everyone,

I agree with ya'll but the original poster hasn't posted on here too much and wasn't he posing it more as a question? We can answer the question without yelling at the guy. I don't think it will weaken and am not surprised that it has been strengthening. I think alot of people are not as prepared as they thought they were and it is as if Wilma is trying to prove that. Wilma is quite wicked. My prayers and thoughts are will ya'll in Florida.

Considering that, based on very recent recon data, Wilma is now a Category 4, it is downright impossible that this will come ashore as a Category 1.

It's officially no - landfall at Marco Island, looks like will be Cat3.
