if the track of Wilma goes a little S. of Naples, metro SE FL will have more damage. :eek:

Here's the reason:

In SW FL, if the eye hits just south of Naples, strongest winds are where no one lives.

and SE FL is self-explanatory. Not a good picture.

Dr. Lyons just said that Miami-Ft. Lauderdale and the Palm Beaches could have more damage than SW FL for two reasons:

1) if the track is a little south of Naples, they will get relatively less damage as the south side of the storm is the worst
2) SE FL has more structures to damage than SW FL as it's a metro area

Why SE Floridians are underestimating a storm coming in from the SW still doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, our local met here in WPB says the winds on the south side of Wilma are going to be stronger....I feel like I'm in the bullseye over here. Yikes

News flash from CNN: Everglades won't reduce storm strength much because: There are no mountains in the Everglades. DUH!

Got to love the northerners.

In Ocala our Mt. Trash has the American flag flying ever so proudly at the peak. I sometimes wonder whether I should laugh or cry. :wink:

And yes poor skunk ape. I wonder what skunk apes do when hurricanes hit south florida?
