I don't want to jinx it - want to keep the laptop as long as possible on a/c power LOL - but, no, so far no flickers. I wouldn't be at all surprised to lose power at some point down here though. Glad to know that you're staying safe there. It's scary to see this thing barreling down on you this early in the morning lol....why can't these things wait till mid-day and let us all get a good nights sleep?

That's a great question! Is there a hurricane suggestion box we can submit that question to? Hehe.

Ohh. Gusts up to 150 MPH now... Gotta say, I don't like that windfield much.

Ah! Power flicker. Hrm.

No, me either. I can't believe that this thing is INTENSIFYING as it's coming towards us....I know they said probably a cat. 2 but prepare for one category above or below, but that's ridiculous! Another thing we can add to that suggestion box for this season's evaluation LOL

Still have power and Directv. A few power bumps. Lots of limbs down but so far so good.

Yikes, how on earth is she getting stronger??

Just took a nice warm shower - last for awhile, I'm sure!

Hi there Flakeys, glad to see you with us.

no flickers yet, here, but winds picking up...

#246 Postby Weatherboy1 » Mon Oct 24, 2005 4:18 am

Just took the dog out about 20 minutes ago so she'd do her thing before it got really nasty. Figure winds in Jupiter were probably gusting to TS strength, but not more than that yet. First real rainband starting to move in now with stronger rain (was just light when I walked). Best of luck to you all -- glad I decided to put ALL the shutters up (instead of just some as before) given we're up to 125 mph at landfall. Ugh.

We're up to 37 mph winds gusting to over 50 now....I'm waiting for daylight so I can finally steal a peek outside and grab a couple of pics with the camera

Alright all... We're headed to our safe room because the slidding doors are shaking... Can't be too safe. No laptop, so this is internet off for me. You all take care and be safe and I'll be eager to find out everyone is fine when power is back. :) Which hopefully won't be too long.

The NWS radar over the last hour shows the turn to the NE with Everglades city as the target, but the wide eyewall headed for Naples, both places getting smacked by the outer eyewall about now. (The eyewall is large enough to stretch from Everglades city across to Miami, the ring of gloom and doom and dark despair.)

Keep safe. everyone.

Power just went out for the whole area just west of me, but my office power is still on. Aventura is still on too, but they have buried lines so never lost power in Katrina either.

Winds are sustained low-end TS force out of the SSE.

Yeah. Power still on up here in Ft. Laud. That is about to change quickly as we get the soutern eyewall....winds just picked up a great deal....we are beyond the Katrina wind speeds in this area now. You can hear the wind all around the house swirling, hissing, and howling.

Was walking outside and saw transformer flashes. It is only weak TS sustained here so I don't know how power is already going out.

Good morning....winds are picking up here in North Palm Beach....they sound so violent yet they are probably only TS gusts.....I can't imagine what the sustained hurricane winds are going to sound like.....I guess I will find out later today. I am very nervous about the tornado situation...I am hoping we do not get one around here. Take care fellow SoFla's and God Bless.

Just lost power down here so I won't be posting until it comes back up - have to conserve the laptop battery. Winds have picked up tremendously out there, and yet, hubby still sleeps LOL Back soon I hope :)
