If you heard/read/watched a reporter make an idiot of themselves while talking about Hurricane Wilma's effects on Florida, POST EM HERE!

From MSNBC:
A “Welcome” mat that should have been at someone's front door flew by at about 25 feet up in the air. It looked like something out of the "Wizard of Oz."

:break:

CBS News story titled "Weatherman Down".

CNN reporters on Marco Island, standing in the eye after being blasted, remark that it's suddenly eerily calm. Ditzy female desk monkey with an accent says something like, "What could be causing that eerie calm?" and the met on duty says, "Uh...they're in the eye."

gah, give me The Weather Channel, or don't give me anyone.

Anyone catch the little thing Jim Cantore had some passerbys do before the storm began? They all had inflatable mallots and stuff and 'beat' him on camera, taking a jab at no one wanting him around because the bad weather 'follows' him.

I laughed.

Talking head of Fox News says that there are no shelters on the keys because "there aren't any buildings deemed strong enough to survive strong hurricane force winds".

Whatever...

Mister Y. said that he was watching one of the newsies doing the obligatory pre-storm broadcast from Key West the other day, and behind the newsie, someone was spray painting something like "F*** the media and their hype machine" on their storm plywood.

I think it was that same lady who asked Chad Myers what could be causing the storm to weaken this morning. Of course, the storm was moving over land, but I guess she hasn't been through the drill enough this season to realize that hurricanes moving over land tend to weaken.

A lot of you guys point out stuff that sounds stupid to us, but the average Joe has no idea about all this. That is why those dumb things are said, everything isn't suited for the storm watcher.

I saw a news reporter yesterday (CNN, maybe?) who was describing why those in the southern part of the storm would get it worse. It's because of the "clockwise rotation of the storm," of course.

How about talking about the creation of a category 6.

Twice today, reporters on Faux News claimed that Wilma had moved back over the Atlantic and "regained hurricane strength." I dismissed it as a mistake the first time, but the second time I assumed it was on the TelePrompTer.

There was a weather babe on CNN commenting on aerial photos of the flooding up in Cocoa, Florida from rainfall, actually calling it storm surge flooding

I don't know, I think it's basic knowledge, seventh grade science at the max, that a hurricane has an eye, and it's calm in the eye.

I don't buy into the idea that the news has to be dumbed down until it fits an IQ that matches higher-end tropical storm force wind speeds.
