I've certainly been one of those who finds LOST to be a lot of fun...in a quirky spooky sort of way. The subtle things that go on are often more important than the plot line itself.

And like you, three weeks seems a long time for us to consider all the possible "losses" that will be taking place, but I find myself thinking that the acting is all too often what I would call "campy" or overplayed, overstated, or overdramatic. I could give examples but as followers of the show you know what I mean.

At first I thought it was the writing...just a weak script that forced the actors and actresses to overplay.

But because of its uniqueness all across the board...characters, situations, interpersonal conflict, and the sci-fi aspect of it all, perhaps that aspect of the show (the overacting melodramatic substance) is nothing more than a throwback from the Star Treks and Twilight Zones of the past...simply being played out in 2005.

Either way, while I can get annoyed at it, I still make sure the DVR is ready to record every new episode that comes along.

If there were Trekkies in the past, is there not now the possibility that I am becoming a Lostie?

Today we were at a debate tournament and there was this girl with a shirt that said "DUDE!" on the front... and then on the back it said... "It's a LOST thing... you wouldn't understand!" I loved it and wanted to ask her where she got it but I was too busy.

I'd love to have that shirt -sounds too funny!!!

Dennis - The "lostie" nickname is great! It was funny, but while I was reading your post, it reminded me of the way I felt about the Love Boat episodes with "Vicki" in them. :)

Mary - you have me cracking up here! "her Lobster" -I looove that episode!!! You're right Jack is her "lobster" - maybe just a kiss between Kate and Sawyer. Then, they discover they are better off as friends because the kiss was nothing great and Jack gets jealous and makes his move. The they could have their first "date" playing golf on the course Hurley designed only to be interrupted by Ana chasing a wild boar.

I like the romances on the show, but all I can say is, Dude, don't let Hurley end uo with Ana!! 8-)

Garrett - get out your credit card......

http://www.groovynet.com/cgi-bin/groovy ... ear/900850

Not sure which T has the Lost phrase on back but just look at all the products with "Dude" on them!!!!

Now I want that T-shirt, but actually if my daughter Laura saw that link, she'd want one. Mmm, great xmas gift idea....

Steve - we're Lostie's huh? That's cool. I'll take it.....I'm a Lostie.....oh yeah I am. Reminds me of when my oldest daughter caught up to Friends, after her old fashioned Mother would not let her watch until she was old enough, hrrrrrrmmmmphhhh (insert Nina's sigh here), LOL. She caught up in no tiime and kicked my rear in the Friends trivia game. Well, I've caught up with Lost now!

I love this show......3 weeks is going to be torture......

I think I'm going thru Lost withdrawals, almost 3 weeks early.....I used to read topics on the Internet Movie Database site, for Lost. Then those fans got a little too into it all to make any sense, so I thought I'd check that site out again..... I just read this topic. And for once a topic starts to make sense....first off the author thinks Mr. Ecko is not a Tailie, i.e. passenger from the rear of the plane. But rather he was either already on the island OR is one of the Others. Creepy....

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411008/board/flat/28270555

But I did think Mr. Ecko was odd, right from the start. Bernard - nice, tired looking. The blonde who talks with Michael - nice too. Ana - mean-mean. But Mr. Ecko seems different somehow...hard to explain. When he warned Michael about the others, he almost sounds like he escaped that group and is grateful to be away from them.

Either that or I'm way off base (or the author of that thread is!). If the link doesn't work for you all, my apologies.

Hmmm....I can see that. Him being an ex-"other" would actually make a lot of sense considering how well he knew things. Now, I'm going to be curious to see his background too. :) I'm still thinking that teddy bear was some kind of wierd clue about the others, but can't figure out what in the world it means and 3 weeks is a long time to wait. But, having grown up on the south side of Chicago, I have the World Series to keep me occupied in the meantime -Go Sox!!! 8-)

The teddy bear was one that Michael gave to Walt if I am not mistaken.

By the way, my friend was telling me about this special dvd that came in a TV Guide (I don't know when), but that when she watched it the part about LOST flashed this:

THEY'RE

NOT

THE

SURVIVORS

YOU

THINK

THEY

ARE!

Hmmm... makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Whoa....now we have that same CD and I'll have to look at it again! I don't remember that message.....

This was a TV Guide issue from before the season began, with info on the story, cast, etc. I want to say it was from late August or early September. Probably not available anymore...

While looking for an another topic, I stumbled upon this one. Might be the same link for the Lost quiz but the replies are funny.

PS - here's another link I found on a local music message board for Lost, but I must ~WARN~ you.....only open if you dare. It contains pictures of scenes coming up in Episode 7. If you don't want to see pics of characters we've never seen before, don't open it! One pic debunks that theory about Mr. Ecko not being on the Manifest.

This is the board I found it on, page 58, last post:

Nobody happened to tape it? :( Any clue on when/IF it will rerun? Remember, please PM to answer me as I'm not reading this thread...afraid I'll read something that's happened since I haven't seen the show yet this year. I just mostly cover my eyes till I can faintly find the Reply button. lol

But I love this show...don't wanna spoil it. ;)

Thanks for clearing up the teddy bear thing - I forgot about that. Now, if I can only figure out what "they're not the survivors you think they are" means, I'd be set. :)

Yeah, I know. I am not sure what it means either. I am hoping maybe that Mary can watch again and fill us in completely.

Kelly - I'm so sorry but we record on our DVR, it would be complicated to tape it on a VCR. I'd have to pester the hubby and hook one up. I'm sure it's possible. Maybe I'll ply him with a few beers.....

I looked at the teddybear again. It's battered looking, with string on it. And I slowed the recording way down, trying to figure out if those were Walt's legs but I can't be sure. Theories over at the Internet Movie Database site are that maybe it is a child but Danielle's child Alex. Not Walt. Who knows though.

You can purchase it on your computer, for $1.99 thru iTunes. You have to watch on your computer though. I don't quite understand this newest technology either.

I wish I had used the VCR to record it too! Just give me a heads up, if it's network channels I can always record in our bedroom. We don't have Satellite hooked up in that room.

Once you go to DVR, you don't miss VCR, although we still own one of course. As a backup! But also b/c it works well.

Well, I'm rambling....

Hey all - I broke down and rented 2 discs from Blockbuster. If you're recall we're missing 7 episodes, since ABC skipped them in the re-air this past summer.

We were able to see two episodes so far:
Season1, 10 and 12.

10 is Claire's backstory and the psychic. So many of you said this is a ~very~ important episode, that we needed to see it. Well, you were all were so right! It is very important.....he insisted she must be on Flight 815. I didn't pick up on the fact there wasn't an LA couple waiting to adopt Aaron, until Charlie did. That little fact sailed over my head but Charlie caught it. I enjoyed the scenes with him and Claire. Could have smacked her ex-boyfriend though.....how could you not love Claire or want to be with her? The warning that she must raise Aaron, b/c her goodness will offset the danger that surrounds the baby, was really creepy. At least I knew his dire warnings were going to be pivotal to the story.

12 is Kate/Sawyer/Jack fighting over the briefcase. Okay, I will admit to taping this episode last year, in my ill fated attempt to catching up, mid-year. Didn't work. I didn't understand why they'd all be fighting over a briefcase and how someone as nice as Kate could be implicated in a bank robbery. I hated Sawyer back then too, didn't understand why this guy has a huge chip on his shoulder either! Those wacky womens' sun and reading glasses he wears - hilarious! That swanky camp he had set up before the tide came in - nice. Again, back then when I tried to watch this show, I hated his character. Now, I just don't!

We have a few more to watch but homework had to be attended to. 2 'new' Lost episodes in one night was fun though - we even carried out a pizza (uh, errrr ummm, dad was working late, it was a Lost-girl's night around my house! LOL)

So happy you got to see the Claire episode. It was too creepy. And the one where Sawyer has to wear those homemade glasses was halarious.

Around here Wednesdays are my day off. My mother in law picks my oldest 2 up from school, and takes them to choir, they don't get home till 8ish. She has watched the twins on Wednesday ever since they were about 7 months old and now they are 7 years old. So I haven't cooked dinner on wednesday in about oh, 6 years, just so happens it falls on my LOST night. LOL. Works wonderfully. It is a great day for me. Only 1 kid and no dinner, and of coarse LOST! :D :D

O Town - how very nice of your MIL to do this for you. She sounds as nice as mine was, God rest her sweet soul. I had the best MIL! We miss her terribly.....

That idea is going on my list to offer, when my girls are grown, married and moms of their own. If they live in town. Definitely! There were days I really needed a break, to feel normal again. Even just 2 hours to myself. Our trips to the library were very hectic. I'd see magazines I'd dearly love to lose myself in but we were in the kiddie section, putting together puzzles or something. Looking at new books to check out. When you're in the throes of being a parent of young children, you long for normalcy again. Just a piece of it. Well, now I have my normalcy back but it's different. I'm more forgetful, more tired, etc. LOL!!! Tell your MIL I think what she's offered each week is so very nice to do! I'm impressed.....

Our two Lost discs are overdue at Blockbuster now....no phone call yet. We have time....he he. We've watched one ep with commentary. And we have seen all the eps I've rented now. We just hate to give these back!

I was having a Lost talk with my daughter Laura, the other Lost fan in the house. I told her I'm obsessed with this show and I've been this way with a ~few~ other shows in the past. She nodded - Friends, right? Oh yeah, big time! Lots of tears with that show, especially the very last hour long show finale. She agreed, it was okay to be obsessed with Friends. LOL But when I mentioned the other shows I've been this nuts about, she cracked up - Dallas, Knots Landing and St. Elsewhere. Right away - oh well, 2 were soaps, a geez Mom, a big sigh. I had to explain that Lost used a soap cliche ya know....Claire's amnesia......but Lost isn't a soap Mom! Oh well, I was just as crazy about Dallas as I am about Lost. A fanatic, really!

I love this show! Can't wait for a new episode either. You should see us on Wednesday nights. Lost is our focus from the minute Laura hits the door after school! We have Lost tonight.....her dad is rolling his eyes. Doesn't get it. If that phone rings we don't answer it. House could be on fire and we'd ask - do we really have to leave? LOL Kidding, just kidding...... I swear I just didn't see myself getting all caught up in a new show after Friends. I clearly remember saying when Friends ended, "it's going to be a long, long time before another show like this comes along...." Well, Lost is nothing like Friends was, but I'm just as devoted to it. So personally speaking, that show did come along for me! Just 3 months later.....I just didn't know it, b/c I didn't watch faithfully the first year.
