This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

We're staying. Hurricanes are just part of living here. You learn to prepare for them, and that's that. I, personally, would rather deal with 'canes than ice storms/blizzards, although I do miss the 4 seasons.

Nope. I would NEVER leave. Love it here!

Just look outside today! (No, not that way towards the 6 hour line for gas)

Kidding aside, I love South Florida.

What if you get four more canes in 2006, four more in 2007 and four again in 2008? Will insurance even be affordable after Wilma? Not likely. And if it is it won't cover much and will have an enormous deductible.

My family has lived in Florida for generations and we have records going back to the founding of Savannah (almost).

I love the deep south, and love Florida. It would be extremely hard for me to move away. I am not a huge fan of the beach but love the inland beauty of the rivers and creeks and springs. (ever go kayaking on the Santa Fe or Rainbow springs?)

Although with the current higher cycle we seem to be in, my mind does think about moving out west.

Nah! Been through Frances, Jeane, and now Wilma in the last 14 months! House built post Andrew pretty sure it will stand up to most things! Used to the evacuation/close down routine by now. Great place to live. Lovely and warm, friendly and great food!

We certainly discussed it as we sit here without power. I have 18 years in with the school system. Only twelve more to go and then it will be May thru December up North and Jan, Feb, March, April down here. Our schools suffered another $200 million in damages. I think this may at least slow the growth down in our area.
