No one really knows yet. Don't worry about them at this point. There will be plenty of time if one starts coming

It will be much more challenging for any of these storms to reach
the US now - the westerlies are fairly well established.

In other words, it's unlikely either of these threaten Florida.

Again with the hype? "Drifitng NW" puts this storm running into Central America. Check the map. ;)

Or is it going to come "within 50 miles of Tampa Bay"?

In all likelihood, the threat of a major system affecting Florida again this season has greatly diminished. However, it would be a mistake to assume that nothing could affect the state, even well into November. November 1985 featured Hurricane Kate, which moved into the panhandle as a respectable category 1-2 hurricane. Unlike this season, however, Fall 1985 featured no major fronts that cleared the state of Florida. Therefore, the water temperatures in the Gulf were not significantly cooled. Since a major cold front has moved through the state of Florida (case in point, it was 33 this morning in Tallahassee) already, it is unlikely for any significant tropical systems to affect the Gulf coast during the rest of the hurricane season. Having said that, a subtropical system or weak tropical system could still affect the state. Therefore, everyone should still be on guard until the end of hurricane season because even weak tropical systems can produce significant flooding and tornado outbreaks.

Well, you are a good sport...... I was just trying to make light of the situation do to the stress of such an active season. Storms can hit even well into November but I am just thinking that it will be nice when this season is finally CLOSED!!!

I reckon we are all going to look like Brent next June 1st.

Storm2kers line up at stores to do the ritual preparation thing.
