Poll: Which Month Has Been the Most Active/Exciting?
2005 has been rather exception for anothe reason: the months have had very equal amounts of activity. August 2005 and then September were clearly hyperactive in 2004, but 2005 has had the storms spread out almost uniformly from July to October, God Forbid November!

I can't really decide, so I'll just post about each of the months.
June - um... no, this wasn't it.
July - Most active July on reccord. 2 strongest July storms on record, one after another. The net activity of Dennis and Emily is nothing to scoff at either. Almost continuous activity, surprising because it was July.
August - A long tracker in Irene and of course, Katrina. No more needs to be said.
September - A lot of hurricanes this month, more than previously. Phillipe, Nate, Ophelia and Maria, not to mention Rita. So net activity might have been quite high. And of course, Rita herself to boost the scores.
October - Two big things here. 6 storms, more than the other months and Wilma, most powerful of all the hurricanes.

And of course the weaknesses of each month.
July -- no super Cat 5, who would've guessed it?
August - seemed really boring since most of the TD/TS days were generated by a wimpy TD/weak TS Irene. A plethora of weak storms.
September - the only big storm, Rita, is beaten out by Katrina in terms of impact and Wilma in terms of strength. Also, since September is always an active month, 5 NS isn't all that stellar.
October -- Alpha and Beta just don't seem like storm names?

The most interesting months were definitely July and now October. Like Brent said, you just don't expect as much activity during those months. To have the two strongest hurricanes on record in July and now have the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic in October is simply amazing. This is not counting the record-number of named storms we saw in July and the incredible formation of Hurricane Vince earlier this month. If Invest 91L develops as well as the central Atlantic tropical wave, this month will go down in the history books as the busiest October on record with 8 named storms!
This is what I call a "Western Pacific Season"...

August=KATRINA
Sept=RITA(sub900mb)
Oct=Wilma(Sub885mb) and the first Alpha & Beta!!!
Dont even want to think about Nov.
Yes I thought about opening the question to include pairs of months and all the months. However, this allows for far too many possible answers with a rather small sample space. Having just these 5 options, with June really not being an option, will provide a better sense of S2K users' opinions.

STRENGTHS:
June...none.
July...what a surprise, and had time to track them!
August...Katrina. 'Nuff said.
September...Rita and four other hurricanes.
October...Vince, Wilma (you'd think that'd be enough), and a record number of storms also (more than July, August, and September), the Greek letters.
WEAKNESSES:
June...everything.
July...the storms were all small and puny-looking. Good to mitigate damage but not good beauty-wise.
August...quiet for most of month. I almost threw up after tracking Irene for over a week as a puny TD.
September...no long-trackers, and many of the hurricanes were not very good-looking.
October...been busy. Would've rather had this month in July, August, or September, when there was no major projects or tests.
Overall, I'd say October.

Well, you know FEMA didnt grant aid to a county around here, and they were devasted by the hurricane, so they just stopped cleaning up...Brent wrote:brunota2003 wrote:I'd say September purely because Ophelia was fun to go thru, as it wasn't a Cat 5 or anything, but it was a PAIN IN THE A** yea...![]()
I'm trying to forget about old Ophelia.
