Hello, and a question

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Hello, and a question

#1 Postby elaryn » Fri Oct 28, 2005 1:33 pm

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the Storm 2K forums. I am a nearly life-long (since age 5) weather buff - especially severe local storms and hurricanes. You can blame it all on a lady named Betsy, back in 1965!

I was wondering if there can be found a list of typhoon names from 1945 through 1959? I have managed to get lucky by finding a few names, but Unisys lists them only by number.

Thanks much.

http://www.npmoc.navy.mil

Click on Joint Typhoon Warning Center

Then Click on ATCR Archives

That will give you reports on all WPAC Typhoons recorded....but I doubt 1945-1959 typhoons had any names. Good luck though

Thanks for the information. I sure do appreciate it. :) Alas, the ATCR Archives only go back as far as 1959.

I have seen several references to a named typhoons, starting in 1945, but the references have been spotty. I figured that if anyone might know where to find such a list, it would be here.[/url]
