Let's use this thread to post all the records of this amazing 2005 hurricane season.Below are a few records that I remember.

STRONGEST GULF HURRICANE IN MONTH OF JULY (DENNIS).

MOST TROPICAL CYCLONES TO DEVELOP IN JULY (5).

MOST MAJOR HURRICANES TO DEVELOP IN JULY (2; TIED WITH 1916).

MOST TROPICAL CYCLONES TO DEVELOP IN JUNE AND JULY (7).

EARLIEST DATE FOR 4TH (D) STORM (DENNIS, JULY 5), AND MOST IF NOT
ALL LETTERS THEREAFTER.

MOST NAMED STORMS :23.

MOST HURRICANES IN A SEASON 13.

LOWEST PRESSURE EVER IN ATLANTIC BASIN,882 MBS (WILMA).

COSTLIEST NATURAL DISASTER IN U.S. HISTORY (KATRINA).

DEADLIEST HURRICANE IN U.S. SINCE 1928 (KATRINA).

FURTHEST NORTH & EAST A HURRICANE HAS EVER DEVELOPED (VINCE).

MOST TC'S IN OCTOBER EVER RECORDED (TIED WITH SOME OTHER YEAR).

FIRST EVER THREE CAT 5'S RECORDED IN ONE YEAR.

STRONGEST GULF HURRICANE EVER (RITA, 897 MB).

Although what I will point out may not appear in the record archieves of 2005 may have another record and that is for the most recon missions ever in a season.

senorpepr you dont have those kind of stats right?

MOST RAPID DEEPENING IN 24 HOURS EVER RECORDED IN THE ATLANTIC (WILMA).

FIRST TC EVER TO MAKE LANDFALL IN SPAIN (VINCE).

FIRST EVER THAT V, W, AND THE GREEK ALPHABET HAS EVER BEEN USED SINCE NAMING CONVENTIONS WERE IMPLEMENTED.

BETA: FIRST GREEK NAMED HURRICANE, FIRST GREEK NAMED MAJOR HURRICANE!!! This is enough to last ten seasons, but this just barely scratches the surface...

Another few records:
When Hurricane Emily reached Category 4 intensity on July 15, the 2005 season became the only season to have two hurricanes reach Category 4 intensity before the end of July. Emily also broke Dennis's nine-day-old record for the strongest storm on record before August when its maximum sustained winds reached 155 mph on July 16, along with a minimum central pressure of 929 mbar.

This activity was reflected in the Accumulated Cyclone Energy value at the end of July; at 61 (104 kt2), it was the highest ever. The previous highest was 49 (104 kt2) in 1916; the modern record was 33 (104 kt2) in 1966

Some more:
The number of storms before the end of July (seven) is also a record, breaking the record of five set in the 1887, 1933, 1936, 1959, 1966, and 1995 seasons.

2005 and 1933 share the record for the most storms (17) forming before the end of September. 2005 now also holds the record for most storms (23) forming before the end of October and ties for the number of storms forming during October with 1950, as six storms (Stan, Tammy, Vince, Wilma, Alpha and Beta) have formed during that period.
THis is hurting my brain, there are just to many... :eek:

Oh, what about, the first time in Recons history they had to completely relocate their planes... because of Katrina??? Would that count???

If Emily is upgraded to a Category Five hurricane, would this also be the first time recorded that the Atlantic Basin has had four Category Five storms in one season?

Another record was the 4 major hurricane landfalls in the US (Dennis,Katrins,Rita and Wilma).The record was 3 major landfalls in the US in 1909,1933.1954,1955 and 2004.
