2005: Once in a Century Season-
BUT WAIT!! I thought 2004 was a once in a century season
with so many majors hitting FL. But FL has been hit
4 times for TWO YEARS IN A ROW!!

And the Gulf Coast got SMASHED this season. Systems include Arlene, Cindy, Dennis, Katrina, Rita...5 SYSTEMS...

If these once in a century seasons become the norm each season...
...that would be BAD

I'm sorry, but that record would belong to the first hurricane season ever. :D

Maybe not. We have so many extra storms this year that produced "earliest storm to form records"... probably not going to beat it in the first few years of tropical cyclone formation.

Ah okay you are correct then. Charley was the earliest Cat 4 to make landfall in the US though (2004 of course). This I am almost certain of.

Was Dennis the earliest cat 4 to make landfall anywhere? It hit Cuba quite early as a high end Cat 4 too.

Audrey made landfall as a Cat 4 in June 1957 in Louisiana.
