Here is an article on damage. Also in Nicaragua they had 4 reported missing and 1 injured. Alot of damage.

Prelim estimates, particularly in non-industrial countries and in rural areas, can be horribly inaccurate. The initial tsunami death toll was like 150, and similar gross underestimates have occurred with other natural disasters. I'm certainly not saying this is the case now, but I'd be very skeptical of initial reports.

So far the Nicaraguan media has reported very bad damage for the Mosquito Coast area (several miskito towns completely destroyed) but I've yet to see a definite number of casualties.
The Nic government says the biggest concern right now is the huge number of evacuees who seem to have lost everything and the loss of crops.

Yeah, some governments don't release figures until they get things under control.

Don't use WIKI for official info.
Wikipedia being peer reviewed by hundreds of people is at least as reliable as the news. Many times the news media has hyped an event in a foreign area where information was little, and other times underplayed events in the same circumstances. Wikipedia should like all forms of media be considered and evaluated skeptically, and no outlier should be taken with more than a grain of salt. When there is agreement between sources confidence is alright.
