Did you went shopping at Black Friday?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Tue Nov 01, 2005 1:53 pm

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving day when many retailers have special prices.

I will not go that day to shop for christmas to avoid the stampede.

I usually go every other year, when the kids are at their dad's for Thanksgiving (they will be home this year, so I won't be going). I'm not one of the people standing at the door waiting for the stores to open, however; I have found that getting there around seven makes sure that I miss the insane opening crush and I still find very good deals.

We get it done within the first 2 weeks of November. Any later "gifts" will be cash in a nice money card, taped to some candies or something. I like to HUNKER DOWN (bwa-haha-haaa) and watch the mayhem throughout the day on the local news. MY POOR WIFE works retail, and she will be there, in the trenches. I have heard amazing "war" stories from this veritable day of retail-heck. I'll drop her off really early and then swoop in for the "dust off" when she gets out. Man, I hear that Apocalypse Now music playing already!

I never like to shop that day! For years I couldn't (worked). Then I was a mom with little children, still couldn't drag them to a crowded mall that day. And now I prefer staying home and xmas decorating. The thing is, if you just wait, many department stores offer sales right up until xmas. Used to be there weren't that many sales before Dec. 25th. Now there is (Kohl's comes to mind).

So I need no point in being out in that madness.

Besides I also do some of my shopping online.
