Real and we ~always~ recycle. Wouldn't think of putting it in the trash (as many neighbors do.....).

Artificial, less of a hassle. Also, it seems pointless to cut down thousands of millions of real trees, just to have them out for a few weeks, then throw them out. Think of that effect on the environment, even though it's usually through a tree farm.

Real, real, real. Always had a fake growing up, and my best friend alway had a real, I said when I move into my own place I want a real tree. And every year I have, they are great, smells good, and every year its a little different. :D

Has to be real. Nothing beats trudging through 3 feet of snow, finding a tree you like, and having to dig so you can find the stump to cut the tree down!

A' Natural.........I've ALWAYS cut my own trees, WELL.....actually, that's a LIE  I was FORCED into buying one last year, TOOOOOOOOO much snow in the higher country 10,000 feet, to cut our Blue Spruce, that's the FIRST TIME EVER that I've bought a tree and the LAST!! We put it up on 12 Dec and by Christmas, the thing was SO BRITTLE :x NEVER again! It has to be REAL or nuthin' at ALL! NUTHIN' like going into the woods with a saw in hand to HUNT for the PERFECT tree, cut it down then have a beers, snacks and a hike out to the pickup! I cannot STAND a fake tree!

There's a SIMPLE solution for this, if you want a real tree without throwing them out, buy a potted tree, put it in the house one week before Christmas then take it out shortly there after and PLANT it in your yard.

NOW, the environment thing, please don't get me started, after being home to one of the wests LARGEST wildfires, the forests NEED to be thinned anyway, besides, wildlife do a number on young trees, FAR more damage than cutting one for a Christmas tree

Natural, out here you actually find natural trees are easier to get than artificial ones. And as for afterwords, the tree usually sits in our backyard until May, then we dispose of it. No recycling out here out all, unfortunately.

Artificial - fiber optic - take it out of the box, shape it,
no ornaments necessary, plug it in, colors
change....everyone says, "Oooooooooh...."

I'm happy.

Artificial trees, because it's cheaper; you don't have to keep buying trees each year.

Prefer natural but use artificial since my kids are grown. Here in FL trees are outrageously priced. I have decorated my trees differently every year since 1959. This year we have chosen a Betty Boop theme.

Last year the tree and house was done in an Indian theme with woven baskets and tepees made of paper bags, drums made of leather over thread spools, dream catchers, shields, Indian silhouettes, and bead & feather necklaces displayed over white ornaments (all handmade, of course).

Other years have been a variety of things including a tree with all paper ornaments; international silver tree with Ukrainian silver spider webs, Mexican tin angels & icicles made from pie pans; the bible tree where all the ornaments had to be mentioned in the Bible and the girls had to read aloud the verse where they were mentioned before they could hang them; a red, white, and blue tree after 9/11; a Victorian tree in shades of blue with lots of white ribbon, lace and pearls; and the year I broke my leg and was not allowed to walk on it for 7 weeks, the tree was covered with clothespin dolls I dressed in various fashions.

Get the idea Xmas trees are a favored pastime for me.

I wish I had to trudge through 3 feet of snow just to go outside at Christmas...
