The picture of Kat was not at max intensity, it was still at when Katrina was finishing her EWRC.

Katrina's maximum eye diameter was 30 miles.

Wilma's maximum eye diameter was 70 miles.

The above two according to the NHC Forecast Advisories, not recon info.

Plenty of room to fit Stan and Ophelia in there... although I guess they weren't exactly monster hurricanes.

It's been so long since Dennis that it's hard to remember Dennis brought the Tampa area their worst weather this season, and the Keys were battered by storm surge as Dennis passed by. Tropical storm force winds extended way outwards. The storm was as wide across as Florida is long. That's a good-sized storm. Luckily, like Wilma at her Cat5 peak, the hurricane force winds didn't extend very far out under the cloud canopy.

I think Katrina had a bigger cloud coverage area at her largest...though still slightly weaker than Wilma

A few weeks ago I saw a satellite loop of the entire hurricane season. Anyone know where I can find it? It was an awesome loop.

that beats Katrina :eek:


i meant bigger.......in that montage katrina looks bigger than wilma....and i think overall she was bigger not stronger....or they almost look the same size.....but i think katrina was a bit bigger...
