Countdown to Hurricane Season 2006

A countdown to the end of 2005 would be nice, but knowing this year, I wouldn't be surprised if we see storms into December.

I guess some people just don't get enough seeing the misery, the death, the destruction this year has caused. If your already counting the days till next season you need to get a life. Take some time off and go for a drive along the Gulf Coast I recommend the Mississippi coastline. You won't be able to gamble now the casinos are gone but after you see it come back and tell us you can't wait till 2006 begins.

hurricane days in sofal have been great up until katrina and wilma. i have seen enough for a few years, my out of pocket will exceed 5k between the two storms, sorry s2k but the two canes have eaten away my donation budget.

I highly doubt his intention was to "celebrate" "misery, death, and destruction". No one wants a disaster. This personal attack is uncalled
for. Tone it down.

It's personal attack flame posts like this that take away from genuine
aspects of weather. Counting down to the next season is a way of
increasing awareness and promoting storm season awareness.
And don't pervert that intention. No one wants a disaster!

Thanks Tampa Bay. I like tracking storms and experiencing them is fascinating to me however I do not wish destruction or devastation on anybody.

I, too, am looking forward to the next hurricane season. I enjoy watching storms form and grow, and tracking them is something I find both interesting and exciting. We just sold a piece of property on Sanibel Island, SW Florida, as I'm convinced this 2005 hurricane season is ushering in many years of strong and devastating hurricanes, particularly to South Florida. I think it's OK to look forward to hurricane season for the scientific wonder of it all, and other weather watchers can probably relate to my feeling of post-hurricane-season letdown.

I'm not ashamed to admit it, I'm looking forward to next hurricane season too. I'm not looking forward to the devastation caused by hurricanes, but I think the more we study hurricanes (and their damaging effects), the better we can understand them, so we can better prepare people for these things. I love studying severe weather, for the scientific aspects. Isn't that why we're all here? No one enjoys knowing people's homes will be destroyed. I'm very interested in learning how to help manage the destruction and raise public awareness too.

..it's a double edged sword. We as weather buffs really want to see some action, but not the damage and misfortune caused to those who feel it's full force. Like I said before, whenever something is brewing, I watch, listen and learn. I also keep in mind those in it's path and keep them in my thoughts and prayers as well.

I am obsessed with hurricanes....I will never get enough. I love stormy weather and really am bored by the S. FL dry season. I'm not kidding. I'd rather go to the cold mountains in the wintertime....at least there I stand a chance of some storminess.

I remember one winter we were in Utah skiing....at Snowbasin on a particularly stormy day. They predicted hurricane-force winds for the top of the mountain, and had to close the uppermost lifts. Even with the upper lifts closed, that was one wild day of skiing.

I love storms. Always will....and if I'm in them, all the better. Sunny weather? B-O-R-I-N-G.

I also look forward to next year tracking hurricanes,but I don't think anyone on this board wants destruction from storms. I for one rather track them harmlessly in the Atlantic bothering no one.Boca_Chris likes hurricane season like the rest of us and I feel no intent on his part for counting down to 2006.Dry season in Florida is boring typical weather forecast reads. Sunny highs near 80 lows in the upper 50's to low 60's.That's are Jan and Feb, time to hibernate like the bears do until hurricane season starts.
