"Sittin' round the Pot Belly Stove!"

Good mornin!!! that homemade egg nog (with a shot of rum) in it made me fall asleep early last night!! but it was yummy.......just made a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies and they are sitting by the stove keeping warm ........everyone please help your selves!!!

Well got to get out in the yard today and pull out some old bushes that died in front of my garage windows........so come next spring I will have a nice cleared out space for a new flower bed and some new bushes!!!!! Dont know why the poor things died? They just went downhill the summer? Oh well gotta go get them out of the ground cause they look awful!!!

Oh BTW Miss Mary I hope you are resting those tootsies today!!!!I know your working hard...so today try and take some time for yourself...O.K.?

Well, I can't stay long, but I thought I'd pop in. Last few weeks have been long...so long I think I'm in the movie "Groundhog Day"! Oh wait, that's not til February! Ah well.

School's going okay, but it's going to be on hold for 5 months while I go for surgery. I'm looking at maybe 6 weeks to 2 months. Don't want to chance that, so I'm staying home this spring as far as school goes. Although, I will keep busy somehow.

Resting - what's that? Been doing yardwork b/c we're having unseasonably warm temps today. Yeah, I'm kinda nuts but my jeans are feeling a little less tight so all this activity is a good thing, no more putzing around on the computer....what wears me out is a general overall tiredness, can't quite explain it. I've been walking for years, either treadmill or the dog at the park. So the fast pace of a cafeteria I can handle, I think it's all the upper body lifting that is a shock! Everything is so heavy, all huge stainless pots/pans, trays.....I will be getting muscles this way. But thanks for asking Amy....I'll get the hang of this new routine. My soaps/bon-bon days had to end....just kidding, I've never had a bon-bon and does Desperate Housewives count? That would be my only soap these days......unless you consider Lost!

Jeremy - so sorry to hear your surgery got moved up but maybe that will turn out well, in the end. You can get it overwith, then relax and rest over the holidays. Hoping and praying for the best here, always.

Good evening guys! Just cleaned my whole house, and did a bunch of laundry, now I am ready to kick back and relax by the PBS. Ahhh, time to rest. Thanks for the cookies arkess, I feel like a sweet treat after those ribs we cooked tonight. yummm. And I will take a cold glass of homemade eggnog. Great, feeling better already. The twins are gone tonight so all I have is the 3 year old, Madie. I think I am about to put her to bed, and have some time alone with the old man. With the others around we can hardley get a word in edgewise. Time to catch up a little.

It has been wonderful weather here today. I hope it lasts another week or so, I need to get out and pick some weeds, and do some yard work myself. Get the beds nice and clean for all the christmas decorations we put out every year. I will post a picture of that, we get a little nutty. The kids love it. Family tradition I guess, my parents have made the news a few times with all the decorations they do.

Therock, not sure what the surgrey is for, but whatever it is, it is wise to rest and recoperate fully after all surgery. You made a good decision. I hope it goes well and is uneventful for ya.

Alright I guess I have rambled enough. Hope everyone has a great night!!! Going to go relax in my nice clean house and catch up with the old man.

I have never watched day time soaps in my life!!!!!!! too cheesy for me!!!!! yea im the nighttime soap person!! LOL!!

I was doing some yard work and housework myself today......my daughter is gone for the weekend with her momma and poppa so since my hubbie is working......my house is so nice and quiet!! havent even turned the tv on all day!!!!! it's so amazing the amount of stuff you can get done with out your kids around!!!! but god bless them......i wouldnt trade them for the world!!!!!

Guess nobody like my chocolate chip cookies??? sorry i will try a different cookie next time

Sadly, there have been injuries and fatalities in southern Indiana and in Kentucky where there were tornado touchdowns late last night/predawn today!!

I hope we hear from Donna (isobar) before too long as she lives in Newburgh, IN (near Evansville) which is one of the hard hit areas!

Prayers and thoughts with the injured and for those who have lost loved ones!

Eric - worried about Donna too. Hopefully once she's up and makes sure her family is safe, their property, talks to family and friends, she'll be able to check in with us.

That system could have been as strong here. We had a Tornado Watch posted, but no sirens. And I'm almost ashamed to admit this - but we slept thru it. Only thing that woke me up was the dog barking. She likes to sleep in our downstairs powder room, no windows in there. All we need to do is let her out of the laundry room, which of course has a window, and she just walks right into the 1/2 bath. I wish I had turned on the TV. The storms were just starting at that point. She's a barometer, I joke. Always alerts us of impending storms. Although I knew they could be severe. Just didn't think this severe.

UUUmmm - those muffins do sound good!! I am just happy to be back in my home - for good. My last day in Baton Rouge was Friday, and if I never see another LSU tiger in my lifetime, if will be too soon (((((hugs Linda)))))!

Go back to work in New Orleans tomorrow. I've been told not to expect too much, parts of the city are still closed off. Parts of the CBD are still closed. But at least I am on the road to getting my life back

Gotta hand it to our furry companions and to other animals who truly are barometers...probably even a keener sense of impending bad weather than even humans!

The touchdowns occurred around 1:45 am CT (2:45 our time) so many were asleep which is why the fatalities...always a bad case scenario when tornadoes occur at night...so much of the time! I read where the first touchdown occurred in/near Henderson, KY and then skipped across the Ohio River into IN!

Yes our dog can sense storms coming, at least 15 minutes from onset. She'll look up to our story and a half family room windows and then high tail to the powder room.

She even does this during movies. Doesn't help if we say it's not really a storm but she leaves the room, just in case. Cute and funny, at the time.

Same with fireworks, any loud noise. Good thing our powder room is w/o windows. I don't know where she'd go otherwise, too big to get under a bed or behind the couch (where our little terrier hid when I was a kid).

Hope predicted thunder snow once. She really did! At the time we thought it was odd, it was just a fierce snowstorm. Minutes later we saw lightening and we were dumped on.

I'm hoping Isobar is okay. When I heard where it hit, my first thought was, "Oh my God!" I forgot about her until later in the day when I got home from church, then it really hit me.

Ever since he nearly got hit by lightning in 1996, my dog has never liked thunderstorms. He has now learned to associate the beeps from my lightning detector with thunderstorms and does not hesitate to wake me up in the middle of the night when he first hears it go off-which is okay if the thunderstorm isn't 100 miles away which is the limit of the detector.

Talking about our furry friends sensing storms, I don't have a furry friend, but I do have a bearded dragon who absolutely goes nuts right before a thunderstorm, he starts tapping on the glass of his tank and if we ignore him, he tries to leap out, once we pick him up, he just snuggles in and wants to be held...once it's over, he'll put his head up, give you a lick and proceeds to walk back to his tank to be put back in
