There is a tropical wave in the southern Gulf and there is also an upper level trough over Texas and northern Mexico. The two may be interacting with each other. Winds at 200mb are running 100+ knots. Lots of shear. 0z NAM is also showing a weak shear zone at 500mb over the system.
