Will we ever see a season like 2005 again?

I think that we could easily see very active hurricane seasons in the years ahead but I really think that there is no way that 2005's level of activity will be repeated for a long time.

As an example, 1934 was not as bad as 1933 and 1996 was not as bad as 1995.

This was a season that boggles the mind. I think that 2005 has broken pretty much every record there is hasn't it?

If, however, 2005 is just the beginning, the atlantic basin is in for a world of hurt.

In the future of cource there will be a season like the 2005.

Yes, I think so. There will be more seasons that run out of the Alphabet names.

My Answer was no...The question was Will WE see 2005 Season which included 26 TC's..Im not saying it will never happen but I don't think I will ever see it it my lifetime again...

I voted "yes". Even though it's fairly likely that many of the records set this year won't be broken for some time, I do think we'll have a couple of years come fairly close to this year's activity before this active phase of the AMO is over.

it could happen very easily...especially with a Weak La Nina predicted for at least the early part of next year, which would be one element conducive for an active year

Obviously sometime in the future there will be a season that tops 2005...however, I agree with whoever posted it above that these next few years are going to be doozies.

By saying the word EVER that made me vote yes. Of course in the history of the world we will have another season like this. And it is not proven at all that this was the most active season EVER.

A la nina next year will increase hurricane activity, but such a year like this one is very unlikely. If next year were to top 2005 then we are talking about a year that finishes the regular alphabet and goes mid way throught the Greek Alphabet.

Yes, I believe it is almost inevitable that at some point in the future there will be a season as active as this year. I do hope that "point in the future" is not in the near future but many, many years from now!

I took the title to mean, "will WE ever see" a season like this again. As in, during our lifetimes. But I could be wrong in my interpretation. Voted yes anyway, because I think it's entirely possible. The next time it happens, it might not be AS record-breaking, because so many were broken this season. But we could at least come close.

I think the next few seasons will be very active...but we probably won't see another 2005 until 2060-2070.
