Is this normal? Do they usually close schools early for forecasted outbreaks?

It's certainly not uncommon to hold the kids at school during severe weather events here in IN, but I've never heard of them sending them home in anticipation of one.

I would be concerned about latch-key kids, seems a bit dangerous to me.

I live in South Central Indiana. No, this is not normal. After what the Evansville area went through 9 days ago though, it may become normal.

I didn't think so. I never heard of this before. Makes you get kind of worried of what's to come in the next few hours.

new torando warning for Richland County, IL. I guess I was wrong on that cell just south of my house. Richland county is right next to me and the classic hook echo is on the radar.

No Tornado Warnings down here in my area yet, but cells are popping everywhere in Central La., and Eastern Texas. Some do have T-Storm Warnings with them, but no Tornadic cells yet.

Most of the activity should stay well north of me with maybe just a squall line coming in late.

We just had a radar indicated TVS, allegedly directly over my house. The scud clouds are so numerous, I can't tell what the heck is going on.

I don't have a basement but thanks for the thought.

I'm a chaser and a trained spotter, the last place you will ever find me is taking cover. However, the first place you can look for my body is probably somewhere in Shelby or Hancock county Indiana.

I am located, literally, at the point of the 85 degree angle denoting the I 465 loop, between I 65 and I 74 in Indianapolis.
