Look out Africa

#1 Postby tomboudreau » Sat Nov 26, 2005 10:07 am

Look at the cone for Delta. A piece of Africa is now in the cone for Delta on Tuesday. What a weird season. Spain gets hit by Vince and now Africa is in the cone for Delta. What's next???

Actually, Iceland has been hit by transitioning tropical systems before. Faith in 1966 actually made it almost to Norway before going ET.

Delta won't be tropical by the time she hits Africa.

Yes, Iceland often gets these systems even if they aren't tropical when they hit.

If the remains of Delta does visit the Sahara, will this have any effect on future SAL?

there was not exactly a SAL this season, except for part of Irene

much of this years dry air came from the Azores High just being more intense than normal

Too far South to hit Europe. Looks like Morocco will get this one like the NHC said.

With Delta heading towards the Africian coast, does that mean that all 4 continents of the Atlantic basin north of the equator has been affected by a tropical system, or did one of the storms miss the South American coast this year?

No storm made landfall in South America, but it looks like Emily came close enough to affect parts of Venezuela.

Alberto in 2000 was another that hit Iceland as an Extrop. That was the storm that did the big loop in the Central Atlantic and made a run at Ginger's record for longest TC in the Atlantic basin.
