• It is an established fact that cool ocean or Gulf surface water will not support hurricanes. Their effects can be greatly diminished by pumping colder water from the depths to the surface. Construct barges, install pumps and tow them or locate them in the hurricane's path. All of us should write to our congressmen to demand that this approach be thoroughly investigated.

I wonder if they have thought about how much this would cost and also the fact that a hurricane would utterly destroy them in it's path. Also I wonder if they have thought of the shear number of barges and pumps this would take.

Considering it's just some random dummy who called in this suggestion to the paper...I'd say no to both.

near the coast, it is already too cool to support more than a cat 3. Its a lot different having the very low heat content in the NGOM, unlike in Sfla where on the Atlantic side, due to the veyr deep waters just offshore, we have a very hgih coastal heat content (I'll still take that trade off since we do not have significant tidal surges, except in Andrew type storms)

Oh, someone already wrote in with that one earlier in the season.
And then there was the one about putting jet engines on top of the Beau Rivage to blow the hurricanes back out to sea.
