Omaha Snow III

#1 Postby senorpepr » Wed Nov 30, 2005 2:16 pm

Latest AFWA 15km MM5 model output shows 2-4 inches of snowfall locally with some spots perhaps to our south getting 3-5 inches. Garcia Method continues to forecast 5 inches possible in region as it has past few days. No wind but snow should begin falling around 1 or 2pm and end tonight around 1 or 2am. During this 12hrs we should have nearly light continuous light snow with moderate periods favored 4pm to 10pm mainly along the NE-IA border.

What Omaha NWS is saying this morning: MET AND MAV GUIDANCE SUGGEST 1-4 INCHES BY DAYS END...AND AM THINKING OF TRENDING THAT WAY TOO.

I just got back from class (learning never ends  ) and the snow is crazy here. The roads were pretty nasty. On my three mile drive home, I saw nearly a half-dozen folks slide into the ditch. (Thankfully, I wasn't one of them.) Looks like a few inches tonight. Very wet, thick snow. Perfect snowballs, though. I'll post some pics probably tomorrow.

You should share some of that snow with your southern friends. :)

That's great ! I used to live in Omaha from 1997 until 2000. The best snowstorm I remember was in March 1998, when over a foot fell in early March, followed by arctic air which plummeted temps to -13 F thereafter.

I loved it !

But of course, I was wishing for 4 feet of snow and -30 F thereafter, but that didn't quite happen ! :D

All we can do is hope for the absolute worst.........
