Uh oh, it sounds like the pot belly stove will meet the S2K bar.
David, you do look cool in the sunglasses - Honest.
Furry, it sounds like you and yours have a hard time staying put in any spot. Sounds like a lot of fun, though. We've been sticking to the same routine now for a number of years....At least until the kids are grown. That's what I keep telling myself.
Golly, the PBS is turning into a regular menangerie.

Hey all - doing a quick pop in. Hoping to ask for a few, selfish as they may be, prayers my way. Just pray this sub cook job I agreed to take pans out. I haven't worked since Nov. 4th. Called my supervisor 2 days ago, to be sure all 9 head cooks at all 9 schools in our district have my name/phone number and know that I want to work. I had been given a list of their names/phone numbers when I filled my paperwork out. Sure it was lame question but I had to be sure and remind her I would like steady work. She said during my interview if I made myself available each school day I would receive steady work. A recently hired perm. employee, former sub, said she could have worked 4 days a week last year. And of course your mind runs wild with possibilities, maybe I did a lousy job the 6 days they hired me? I worked my tail off, to be honest. Even though I've never had experience in food service, I followed procedures and tried to be that team player! My intuition is telling me to give it time but our checking account is saying otherwise. And hubby isn't as understanding as he was 3 weeks ago.
So please just pray I receive calls ASAP or otherwise I need to look for another job. And this one had the perfect hours - anywhere from 9:30 until 2:30, I could be available after school to cart Laura around still. I thought I was all set too.....
.
Well anyways, thanks for reading, letting me vent. Selfish I know to ask for prayers for something like this, but really, we do wonders in that dept., so if you think about it, throw a few my ways. My thanks to you all.

You got it, Mary!
BTW, the people I get my German WW II stuff from are sending me some old WW I/WW II leather pouches to restore/repair...they know I'm broke, and want to pay me in trade (insignia, caps, etc.) for my work.
Just send some prayers up that my hands haven't lost their "magic"...

Mary, as much as you are always there for everyone, I can't believe that you would think of yourself as selfish. I can't imagine you doing a bad job at anything so don't think that way. I'm sure they were slower than usual over the Holidays and more part-time people we willing to work to get extra $$$$ for Christmas. Since you're the new guy on the block it will probably be slow for you for a while. I'll be praying for you - you know I will.
Anyway, I'll brew a pot of Earl Grey. It always seems to calm Miss Mary down. I'll stoke the fire and snoop around for some muffins.
As Eric would say, have a Thabulous Thursday

Karan
Karan,
I was once very adept at bringing old things back to "as issued" condition; but, that was before arthritis, pinched discs, carpal tunnel and "shot" rotator cuffs came into play. Not to mention ever-failing sight; I have to take my glasses off entirely to do detail work. Knowing what needs to be done, and executing it...are two different matters, Karan..hence, my prayer request.
If I can do this, it will go far to relieve the family purse-strings, yet allow me to complete the reconstitution of a long-gone (and cherished) collection.

Bill~ sending prayers to you, that He will guide you in this project. Mary~ how frustrating for you...I also pray that you'll get a call asap and get to return to work immediatly. I know this is the time extra money is most needed. (hugs) to you both.
We're closing on our property at Big Bear Dec. 15th, and that eats up all of our expendable funds as well, making what normally wouldn't be, a tight little Christmas here. It's all good though, I thank the Lord that we're able to see our dream to fruition. Keep the faith ya'll...He'll either make this possible for you, or lead you to something better, all in His time, not ours, never forget that. :O)
Chloe is still sick...her fever shot up to 102.4 lastnight...was a L-O-N-G night...I hate her missing school, and so does she!!! Hoping she'll be better for school tomorrow.
I'm leaving behind some fresh baked cinnamon rolls to complement the erl grey tea....

Hey all, thanks so much for the requested prayers. Still no call to work but hopefully they'll need me soon. And Laura said the flu is just starting to go around - isn't that awful when you think, oh good, maybe someone will get sick....then you think, that's awful for them, but I am a contract sub and that's a chance for me to work! Better take my vitamins! Actually I gave this situation a lot of thought today, along with lots of prayers. I asked for a direction. Either work or another great job opportunity. I had 3 job offers when I took this one! When it rains it pours.......side note, I've done occasional part time work for hubby's office.....there are a few one-time clerical jobs coming up that I can do at home. See, that's something and I'll take that as a temporary answer to my prayers! So thanks guys!

My prayers go out to you all! It seems that we have more
demands on us, especially at this time of year, and, it
creates such a hardship when the paychecks aren't coming
in, or sickness is causing a strain.
Donna - whah? People coughing/sneezing? LOL, I've got
the sinus infection from Hades - sneezing, coughing, nose
runs vs. stuffed up & can't breathe - I'm on antibiotic and
nasal spray, right now. When my body decides that it's
WINTER, and, not winter/autumn, winter/autumn with
the temps, I should be ok!
I sound like I'm
talking with a clothespin on my nose! I could really
have some fun on the phone with friends...hmmm....
And, to boot, I can't even taste the tequila that Shannon
has so lovingly bestowed...RATS! The Margarita Queen
will have to take a raincheck...this time!
LOL, ya'll have a good night!

Okay, now it's my turn to pray for others.....I did focus on my needs for a few days. Not sure if that did it, I think it was all of YOUR prayers, prayer warriors that really did it, but I have 2 days worth of work next week. This head cook said we'll play it by ear for the rest of the week. So I may work a full week - yeah, yeah, double yeah.
Bill - you're in my prayers, buddy. I too wanted to find work at home, so I'm glad this worked out very well for you. Even in trade. That works too!
Donna - knock on wood it hasn't hit my family yet. Laura said she was a little chilled yesterday, sore throat but both were relieved with ibuprophen and a hot beverage (no, not a hot toddy, LOL). She likes her hot chocolate which they really shouldn't have if congested, but eh, she's 15 now. What can you do? She's not into tea and I always want hot tea when I feel crappy. So get well, keep that family healthy!
Signing off.......household chores need to be done now.
Thanks again for the prayers everyone! Luv you all.....but you know that. Not to get all sentimental but I do have a very special place in my heart for my S2K family!

Breeze, are we related?? My head is like a barometer. When the temps fluctuate like they have been here, I get a total sinus blockage. I've been on sudafed and ibuprophen for the past 4 days. I don't know which will get a hole in it first, my stomach or my head.lol
Mary, I'm so glad those prayers worked. ((Hugs))
Bill, you know your in my prayers always. ((Hugs))
Well, I better get busy here. I'll brew some Earl Grey and leave some KK's on the mantel. (The chocolate ones are for David) Bill those two snickerdoodles are for you.
As Eric would say, have a fabulous Friday. TGIF WHEW

Hey all - not working today, so I thought I'd pop in for a quick hello. And then I'm off to put up outdoor lights, can you believe it, I haven't been able to get to them, ever since the Arctic blast and freezing rain we got last week. My shrubs still have ice on them. Hopefully I'll be able to just lay these lights on them, no damage. Watch us get warm temps and then windy days, everyone's lights will be blowing all over the place. About 1/3 of my neighbors have been able to put up lights, usually it's almost all lit up by this date.
Got the scoop on my job situation, apparently my supervisor rotates the subs and I am on a long list. Not a short one, as I was led to believe during my interview. All I can do now is wait this out, I received positive feedback from head cooks and employees I worked with. Now all I can hope for is word to reach the supervisor and then she'll move my name to the top of the sub list. Thru the grapevine I heard most subs don't want to work more than 2 days a week! Which is fine but I said I would like 5, or as many days as school is in session.
Did I take the right job? Well, if this leads to permanent employent then yes. Some work 6 hours a day and that would be ideal, not sure if I'd be able to handle it, health wise but they would start me out with 4 or 5 I think.
I just know had I taken a job in the real work, opposite of a work environment that revolves around a school schedule, it would never have matched up what I have now. Perfect hours, great pay, when I do get called to work.
I'm not around as much as I used to be but I'll still post on this thread if my time is drastically reduced (as it has been since last week!).

Hey guys. Just got back from doing a little shopping, thought I would stop by. Been trying to do some shopping when I get a moment alone, with 3 kids that is hard. Can't take any of them shopping for obvious reasons, I tried to take the 3 year old last week hoping she would keep her lips zipped, which worked for a few days till she saw the commercial on t.v. and then asked (in front of the giftees) "Where is our Furby mommy?" I said we don't have one. Yes we do mommy I saw you bought one. No I didn't. And she was so mad, because I totally denied it.
So no more shopping with her either. I guess I will be doing some late night shopping as usuall when the little rugrats are asleep.
Good luck Bill with the restoring, my prayers are with ya.
Mary, at least you know the scoop now at work, and know where you stand and what you need to do to get more work. Just keep bringing up, how this is such a great job, and how it works so well with yours and the kids schedule, and how it would be great to work more hours. And then keep working your rear off to let them know you are willing to be a hard worker.
Breeze, my one daughter seems to get sinus infecvtions alot, but they are painful for her. All the kids are sick here now. It seems from about December till March noses run constantley here. I dread it. I only catch about 1 every year out of all the stuff they bring home. I guess they are building their immunity up and thats the only way to do it, is by catching it. Hope they are all okay for their school and church programs they will be in.
Have a great day everyone, hoping the sun will shine here soon, overcast and windy now.
~Kelly

"BAAAA, HUMBUG!"
What's UP with this SCREWY weather? I CANNOT for the LIFE of me get BACK into the Christmas Spirit when the weather's like SPRING! I know, I know....."Waaa, waaaa, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
HOWDY everyone....geesh, has it been THAT long AGAIN since I've been around?
With the holidays here so are the STUPID asp criminals, I swear, burglaries are up 200% over the summer, it's sad
I literally RUN from scene to scene, processing them and then spend HOURS upon HOURS doing paperwork, research, running warrants etc, etc but I LOVE it......and BTW unlike CSI, we DO NOT solve the crimes in less than an HOUR
ANYWAYS........I've got everyone that has asked for prayers covered! I'll TRY to stop by a little more often, I swear!
Until tomorrow, "Mat the Good Lord bless and Keep You" I'll leave the light on!
