11 named storms in a normal year.
Think about this:
from 2004 through 2005- 11 hurricanes have hit the United States- with 9 of them making a direct landfall. Alex and Ophelia did not make a technical landfall....according to the definition. But 11 hurricanes hit the U.S. in a little over a year. And worse- 7 of them were cat-3 or higher.
Dr. Gray said a few years ago that the stats would right themselves- they certainly have.
On a personal, gloating note, I have been in all 11 hurricanes that hit the U.S. these last two seasons. Something I still cannot believe....
