So, what do you guys think? I would love to see some snow this early in the year.
Possible snow for North Carolina?

A lot will depend on the ultimate track of the Thursday developing low. There is going to be plenty of cold air in place over most areas, moisture and track are the questions. Models do not have a very good handle on htis so far. A lot of flip flopping with cold air in place will give mets headaches for a few days trying to figure this out, it could be major if it tracks more towards the Carolinas.

I don't see any issues about the available cold air. In fact, the -10 C isotherm at 850 hPa is in central NC, implying a 1:20 liquid equivalent ratio. If anything were to fall, it would be snow from Columbia to Myrtle Beach, SC north. However, the question is with the precip. All models have a strong wave coming out of the Rockies, but as of now, they do not tap into Gulf moisture. This seems like a mistake because of the pumping ridge in the west. I have decent confidence that someone in the southeast will see at least some snow from this event.

This map of the 12Z Euro implies a 6 inch snowstorm for the eastern 2/3rds of NC. Interesting stuff.
