I attended Christmas in the Pass..
Friday nite. Since downtown Pass Christian is pretty much gone, it was held at War Memorial Park. The park is located on Scenic Drive which overlooks the GOM. Katrina had her way with the park but the majority of the live oaks survived. Tents were set up and the Pass Chamber gave out free popcorn. Children from the elementary school sang Christmas songs. One small baby step back from the brink.......MGC

Seems that "baby steps" are the new norm. But every one of them will eventually add up to feet, yards, and miles - with "eventually" being the key word...
BTW... Finally got to see the beach from DeBuys road to the Gulfport/Long Beach line. Man-oh-man!!! That stretch looks literally like a bomb hit the entire area from the water's edge to about three blocks north. Amazing how virtually EVERY structure is g-o-n-e. It was very difficult for me to get my bearings all along the route, and I drove highway 90 every day for 11 years on my way from Biloxi to work at Grand Casino Gulfport. This coast will be YEARS in coming back.

Ixolib- I have relatives coming for Christmas from out of state who want to drive to see the damage for themselves. I haven't yet had the heart to do it myself, except for Waveland for a few minutes when I had to take a package to a friend. Is the road open and passable and is the traffic bearable or is it horrendous?

Pray for no more for a LONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time. The economy will never be able to rebound within our lifetime if we are perceived as the monster hurricane magnet that we apparently are.

It seems that way! I tell ya, we have had hit and miss. We always seem to be the ones to get the BIG ONES!
I was a skeptic for a while. But, I do believe once the gaming industry is back up and running, the Gulf Coast will rebound quickly.
I am sure the tourists are just waiting to sightsee around here.
