nope...still just mist and sprinkles. It's holding at 32 right now and not dropping below just yet. I wish the temp would hurry up and drop!

It is below freezing in NW Harris Co. this morning, and the wet spots will probably begin to start freezing over. It is also quite windy and wind chills are very cold. There is the risk of freezing drizzle through the morning and then tonight we clear out for the hard freeze.

Good morning form Ft Worth TX where the current temp is 17 degrees with a wind chill of 3 above. No work today, we're CLOSED!!

All the schools are closed due to the icy roads, so me and the boy will play some Madden 06 today, and I will be making my homemade stew. YUM...anyway yall stay warm and have a great day!!

P.S recieved about .25" of frozen precip at the house.....

Congrats on the day off. I was watching TXCN this morning at it looks like a mess on the highways up there. Down here, we are holding near freezing. Not bad for an early season Arctic front. Hopefully we'll have another one or two of these before December is out.

Checking in from the Capital of Texas ... Austin, that is ... 22 degrees here in north Austin. Schools are closed and roads have about a quarter inch of ice accumulation ... many, many accidents.

Most state agencies (including mine) are scheduled to open at 10 a.m., but I'm wondering about how challenging the ride in might be.

Well, my scoreboard for this event reads: Accuwx's JB 1, NWS 0.

Yep score one for JB and NWS dropped the ball on this one here in Texas. FYI, JB in his late evening update said Colorado has a good chance at being colder up there than with this outbreak the last 10 days of the month . Seems like if thats the case, we have a shot at it too.

Fortunately for us in Houston the precip ended before the freeze got here. I imagine the counties just to our North have some ice to deal with. When I got up this am it was 33 at the house. It was down to 30 by the time I left at 9am. Looks like we may see a day where we struggle to get past 32! This is just about normal for Houston as far as first freeze event. Actually I believe the average date is DEC 12. Definitley to dang cold for me with the wind chill in the high teens/low twenties!!!

What we are currently seeing/expecting usually doesn't happen till late Dec or mid Jan if it happens at all.(meaning a sustained cold(for us)snap).

It's still 42 here in Beaumont -- Yet, Houston is 34.. That cold air sure is slow moving Eastward!

CC, I can't help but think back to last week when NWS told me it would be in the low 50s today. Yeah, right .... :roll:

It was 19 here in Rockwall with a slight glaze over most roads. I didn't make it to work, but am logged in from home. Telecommuting today.

42° at 10:15am - Wow. What part of Beaumont? Going on noon here and most Weatherbug stations from KFDM's Instaweather are still reporting temps in Beaumont from 36° - 39° with a couple showing right at 40°

Wind chill is in the 20's. Brrrr!!

Anyway, last night NWS showed me with a 20% chance of snow for tonight, but as I expected, it's now gone. Oh well, the hurricane I thought would never hit here did so maybe the snow I think never will, will. If Mother Nature can be mean, maybe she can be a little nice too. :wink:

Everyone north of here, be careful on the roads - I've seen so many pics of cars sliding off the roads. Stay home if you can.

Don't forget that the cold was supposed to miss us to the east too. Can you imagine what a direct hit might have been like? :lol:

I hope the next cool down is delayed by a few days. We need good fireplace weather for the 24th and 25th. Lighting a fireplace in 60 degree weather sucks.
